Development of technology encourages educational sector to adapt. Flipped Classroom provides an approach of learning that integrate learning process with technology. Flipped classroom is a model of learning in which the process of learning in classroom is inverted, so that students are given the learning material before class, then students’understanding of the material is deepen in the classroom session through discussion facilitated by teachers. Thus, this article discuss about students’perception toward flipped classroom learning. In order to know students’ perception, it is important to conduct a flipped classroom learning followed by semi structured interview and questionaire. The semi structured interview and questionaire are given to students of SMA Pembangunan Kota Padang. The findings show that students are interested to this approach. It is happen because students can learn the material whenever and wherever they want.
The problem of learning difficulties in calculus courses has become a hot topic in universities. Calculus is a compulsory course, which is not only studied by learners majoring in mathematics but also physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, etc. However, learner's achievement in this course are still very concerning. Many learners fail in this course. Considering this problem, this study attempts to investigate difficulties and errors made by learners in understanding and solving calculus problem, with a particular focus on research topics associated to limit. To this aim, observation and documentation were conducted to reveal the data. The subjects of this study were learners of biology and science study program. The subjects were selected through certain consideration, purposive sampling technique. The research results about learner's difficulties and errors made by learners are classified based on the steps of problem solving process, namely understanding the problem, planning a strategy, select a strategy, performing the strategy and verifying.
Mathematics lesson is considered to be a difficult lesson for such students. As a consequence, their achievement in math is still very concerning. Thus, we need a learning model that makes students give positive responses toward math lesson. Discovery learning is as an alternative. But, there are schools that students of a class consisted of normal and special needs students. Implementation of learning process cannot be separated from those two kind of students. Thus, this article attempts to discuss students’responses toward discovery learning process by focusing on special needs students. To this aim, participant observation and documentation were conducted to reveal the data. The subjects of this study were students of Grade 9 SMP Pembangunan, Padang city. The findings shows that students give positive responses to the model especially in their attitudes towards discovery learning.
The development of science about learning has offered a variety of learning methods that can be used to improve student learning achievement. One of them is a problem solving method that can improve problem solving abilities. However, reality in schools, teachers still prefer to use the expository method. To apply the problem solving method at school needs to do research first. Therefore, this study aims to investigate whether the problem solving method produces students'mathematics learning achievement that is better compared to the expository method. One of topics in math that students usually make errors is fraction, so this study attempt to discover the effect of problem solving and expository method on the topic of fraction. This study is semi-experimental. The population were seventh grade students of junior high school in Surakarta. Samples were recruited by using cluster random sampling technique. The samples are 2 classes with a total of 60 students, one class as an experimental class and the other class as a control class. Data collection methods used are documentation methods and test methods. The data analysis technique used is the t test. The results shows that problem solving learning methods provide learning achievements that are as good as expository learning methods on the topics of fraction.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
