Background:Shad Karanas mentioned in Ayurveda are the means for attaining the state of Dhatusamyata. Samavaya is the sixth Karana among these and it provides the knowledge of relation between Dravya, Guna and Karma. This kind of knowledge becomes the basic tool in the field of diagnosis as well as in the selection of proper drug.Aim:To assess the Samavaya relation between Ama and its Hetu and Lakshanas along with Practical evaluation of Samavaya by using Pippalimula on Ama.Materials and Methods:The study comprising of total 23 patients of Ama and divided into two groups. Pippalimula tablet (each of 500 mg, 2 tablets four times daily) was administered in Group A (n = 13) while Group B (n = 10) was treated with placebo tablet (each of 500 mg, 2 tablets four times daily) for the duration of 10 days. Results:After the completion of treatment, all the parameters of Group A showed statistically highly significant results, whereas in Group B some parameters showed significant results and others were insignificant. Conclusion:The study specified the Karanatva of Samavaya as the Laghu, Ruksha and Ushna Gunas which were present Samavayatvena in Pippalimula, and were absent in placebo.
COVID19 has contributed to one of the most concerning issues in the health field because of its extremely high transmission capacity, mortality rate, diverse nature, and adverse effects. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all efforts are currently focused on understanding this new infectious disease, specifically in unravelling the pathophysiological mechanisms for prevention of the disease, literal treatment, and avoiding the lingering symptoms or complications of COVID 19. Eosinophilia is one of the standard laboratory findings after the COVID 19 infection. Out of 242 patients visited at Post-COVID OPD of Kayachikitsa department, ITRA, Jamnagar; in 159 patients, the differential eosinophilic count increased while both differential and the absolute eosinophilic count was raised in 134 patients. Many studies suggest that SARS-CoV-2 was directly or indirectly responsible for eosinophilia due to infection or recovery. The conventional treatment for eosinophilia lowers its count but may not provide satisfactory relief. Also, reducing eosinophil count below the specified limit is not advisable in concern with COVID 19 as eosinopenia may indicate a poor prognosis, and in this way, the eosinophil counts have important value as an indicator of severity as well as complications regarding the patients of COVID-19. Therefore, it is indispensable to understand the precise mechanism of eosinophilia integratively, i.e., by conventional and ancient science, to understand the exact etiopathology and to determine the proper treatment protocol. Considering symptomatology, eosinophilia so far can be correlated with Vataja Kasa from an Ayurvedic point of view. This review aims to illustrate the possible integrative knowledge of eosinophilia with respect to COVID 19.
Purpose:According to Ayurveda food is the cause for both health and diseases i.e. wholesome and unwholesome food is responsible for happiness and misery respectively. Also it is one among the three tripods of life. Beside the quality and quantity of the food it is also very much important that how it is taken because food taken in improper way can lead to various diseases. Keeping this thing in mind there are 8 factors (Aharavidhivisheshayatana) mentioned in Vimana sthana of Charak Samhita which determines the utility of the food. Upayogasamstha is the eighth factor among these which deals with the dietetic rules. Further at another place six factors which are necessary for the transformation/digestion of the food (Aharaparinamakara Bhava) are mentioned. So, the study was planned to evaluate the relation between Upayogasamstha and digestion of the food.Method:The data from various texts along with brihatrayi has been collected, compiled and analysed to get some fruitful conclusion.Result:Each factor mentioned in Upayogasamstha has some scientific reason behind it and has got direct impact on digestion of the food as well as on the health status of the person. It was found that improper taking of food has been directly mentioned as causative factor for certain diseases. Conclusion:It can be concluded that in the field of dietetics especially digestion along with factors affecting it, has been mentioned scientifically and at very minute level in Ayurveda by following this many kind of diseases arising in today's era can be prevented.
According to World Health Statistics 2011, 83 million persons in India are 60 years of age and older, representing over 7% of the nation's total population. Geriatrics is relatively new in India but Ayurveda in its eight branches dedicated one separate branch for geriatric care in the name of Jara or Rasayana which mainly deals with enhancing one's immunity and curing the general debility and diseases. Elderly person have various health and socio-economic challenges which ultimately affect their psychological health and even needs emergency care at times. Hence to struggle with these issues the need for geriatric care has become important. In recent years Rasayana therapy has been proved as a remarkable milestone in geriatric care. The present study aimed to explore the concept of geriatric healthcare through Rasayana principle described in Ayurveda. The above need-based information is collected from various Ayurvedic literatures (Laghutrayee, Bruhatryayi) along with numerous research articles from databases, such as PubMed, Google Scholar and also electronic searching of conference proceedings, brochures, government policy documents, press releases etc. All collected data were depicted in narrative form and tabular manner under different heads. Considering the above aspect regarding geriatric healthcare, the role of Rasayana may be proved benecial in Geriatric health care. Further, adoption of code of conduct may efciently overcome the early ageing conditions by maintaining good immunity for improving disease resistance.
