Manipulation of XML data is becoming increasingly important for multimedia retrieval. Several encouraging attempts at developing methods for searching data have been proposed. However, efficiency and simplicity are still a barrier for further development. This paper gives a global idea about our multimodal system for retrieval multimedia annotated documents. This system combines four retrieval modalities: first by keywords, second by visual graph, third Query by Resources and finally using standardized languages.
This paper presents a solution to resolve the problem of multimedia documents collection reorganizing. This solution is based on a documentary warehouse enriched by metadata (for each media type) elicited, modeled and structured in XML meta-documents. To homogenize these meta-document representation, we based our annotation on a document indexing and segmentation process. The warehouse thus created is seen as the hyperbase to which the user will apply personalization and querying mechanisms. The personalization enables dynamic re-structuring and re-construction of documents answering to the user queries. This approach is based on the OOHDM methodology extension with the use of the metadata.
We propose here a novel approach for extracting hidden semantic from semi-structured data resources and transformed to RDF triples, to be queried through semantic query languages. Unlike existing approaches that only explore the structure or use ontologies, we present a system that allows us to utilize all available information. Our approach constructs a semantically related data from XML represented in RDF via "semantic network" described here. These data could be queried by SPARQL/XQUERY or both simultaneously in multimodal way to perform a semantic search on a set of multimedia news resources.
