The aim of the article is to study the web resources of a higher education institution as an effective means of communicating the activities of this HEI. The study is based on the choice of methods for assessing the quality of higher education institutions’ web resources information content, taking into account the parameters of the effectiveness of its communication. The article identifies the role of official web resources of higher education institutions in modern conditions (in particular, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic). In this paper, the information content of web resources of higher education institutions is defined as an information product. It is established that high-quality information content is a necessary condition for effective communicative activity of a higher education institution in the virtual space. The article uses approaches to assessing the quality of higher education institutions web resources information content by assessing the quality of such information products as software. That is why their quality is determined by a set of indicators determined according to the ISO / IEC-25010 standard, taking into account the parameters of the effectiveness of communicative activities of higher education institutions in virtual space. As a result of research it is established that to assess the quality of the higher education institution’s web resources content, taking into account the parameters of the effectiveness of its communication, the appropriate characteristics / sub-characteristics of software quality in accordance with ISO / IEC-25010 standard. It is this approach that allowed us to practically assess the effectiveness of free resources of the higher education institution in communicating with consumers of educational services in cyberspace.
