This paper describes current and future practices for selection of Power Quality Monitoring (PQM) locations in future networks as they were addressed by the CIGRE/CIRED JWG C4.112 "Guidelines for Power quality monitoringmeasurement locations, processing and presentation of data". It deals with questions related to where to measure as a function of what (i.e. parameters), how (i.e.
sensors and intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) portables or permanently installed) and how long (i.e. temporary or continuously). This selection ranges from compliance verification, benchmarking, site characterization and troubleshooting to advanced applications and studies and active Power Quality (PQ) management.Index Terms--Power quality, power quality measurements, power quality monitoring, monitoring sites.
