Multitasking is simply the performance of multiple tasks at tasks at the same time. Multi-tasking is the performance of two or more functionally independent tasks at the same time with each of the tasks having separate goals. It is composed of distinct stimuli, mental transformation, and response outputs [1]. Two real life examplesAn example of multitasking is somebody driving a car and texting on their cell phone at the same time. This scenario is wellknown to law enforcement agents because it is illegal to text while driving in many jurisdictions and countries. There is a concern of avoidable road traffic accidents which are blamed on distracted driving. The implication therefore is that people cannot do both at the same time. So, while one is a road user, the legal position is that they can only drive and if they have to use a phone should use hand free or employ Bluetooth devices.Another example is media-related multitasking. For instance, when a person is working on their computer and listening to a lecture at the same time. This is a common occurrence in classroom settings where students attend with a laptop to take notes. As messages come through on their internet-connected laptops, they may respond to them. As well, students may use the internet to search websites, even educational websites related to the lecture at hand while they are in the classroom. It may appear to be rude when they are not following the lecture or not participating by asking or answering questions. Multitasking -Myth or RealityThere are different parts of the brain that are activated during multitasking. Research done by [2] used functional MRI to show parts of the brain that are activated involve areas of the brain related to attention and inhibitory control. In this research, multitasking correlated with poorer performance. Multitasking was associated with high distractibility and low executive functioning. Another research also investigated whether people known to multitask are better in the laboratory setting when presented with multiple tasks. [1] investigated people with a high perceived ability to multitask. They found a negative correlation with basic skills necessary for multitasking. People who self-reported to multitask

Low back pain is widespread in the general population and practice. Chronic back pain is defined as pain lasting more than 3-6 months. This literature review project will examine the question: In adult patients suffering from chronic back pain, is interventional pain management as good as or better than standard pain management in improving patient-oriented outcomes including safety and tolerability, years lived with disability, reduction in pain, improvement in functional outcome and social participation, and cost-effectiveness? The method used will involve searching the published and grey literature for high-quality systematic reviews, meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials and clinical practice guidelines in the subject with a view to critically appraise the evidence by analyzing intention to treat, the number needed to treat/harm, absolute risk reduction and relative risk reduction. The author hopes to synthesize knowledge in this well-studied area to present standard interventional techniques and their relative effectiveness in chronic back pain to consistently achieve the most common outcomes of importance to patients identified in the literature. PICO formatPatient/population: In adult patients 16-64 years suffering from chronic back pain Intervention: is interventional pain management as good as or better than Comparison: standard pain management (WHO analgesic ladder)
Newcomers to Canada from countries with a high prevalence of tuberculosis pose a particular challenge to do with disease surveillance, diagnosis and treatment. Immigration medical examination is one strategy that is used to screen them before coming to Canada. Subsequently, there is a complex surveillance system involving Immigration Canada, public health departments and primary care delivered through doctors' offices and community health centers. If immigration is left unchecked, the health of Canadians can be compromised by importing new latent and active tuberculosis cases. This will also affect WHO goal to eradicate tuberculosis.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
