HEAT REQUIREMENT OF TWO SELECTIONS AND FOUR STRAWBERRY CULTIVARS GROWN IN THE CATARINENSE PLATEAUABSTRACT -the objective of this study was to estimate the thermal accumulation and phyllochron of four cultivars and two selections of strawberry in the Southern Brazil. the research was carried out in the experimental field at the Centro de Ciências Agroveterinárias, in the University of Santa Catarina, Lages, SC. It was used two advanced knowledge selection of strawberry, called 'Sel1' and 'Sel2', with plants from a public breeding program in Italy and four cultivars: Camino Real and Camarosa, with plants from Chile; San andreas and albion from argentina. the transplant occurred in 06-26-2012. the experimental design was randomized blocks with three repetitions, where the experimental unit was composed of eight plants, using the four central plants. The phyllochron was estimated as the inverse of the angular coefficient of the linear regression between the number of stem leaf and the thermal time after transplantation. It was observed linearity between plant development and the average air temperature in the conditions of the study. among the selections and cultivars studied the San Andreas features the earliest cycle requiring less accumulation temperature (774.70 degree-day) and the cultivar camarosa the latest cycle with greater accumulation of thermal sum (1137.75 degree-day). The selection SEL1 had the shortest phyllochron, 69.96 o c day 1 leaf -1 and the cultivar albion higher value, 135.61 o c day 1 leaf -1 . During the study period the cultivar San andreas showed higher fruit production.
Strawberry cultivation requires the use of cultivars adapted to the temperature and photoperiod conditions of the production region. The objective of this work was to evaluate cultivars and advanced selections of strawberry on productive performance and fruit quality, under the conditions of South Plateau of Santa Catarina State. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Lages, in the 2016/2017 growing season. The cultivation system used was in the soil, in beds covered with black polyethylene film. The cultivars Camino Real, Benicia and Pircinque, and the selection CE 56 obtained the highest yields, above to 30 t ha-1. Benicia, Camino Real and Monterey, in turn, obtained the fruits with higher average fresh weight, around 24 g fruit-1. In the selections CE 51, CE 56, FRF 57.6, LAM 119.1, FRF 104.1, FRF PA 109.2 and the cultivars Benicia and Monterey the fruits of better quality were achieved, expressed by values of soluble solids / titratable acidity ratio above to 13. The cultivars Camino Real, Benicia and Pircinque, and the selection CE 56 performed as the most adapted to the region of study, among the genotypes evaluated.
In strawberry production, the combination of a high productive performance and fruits with desirable physicochemical characteristics requires the use of plants with a good quality and high initial vigor. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of plants with different crown diameters on the productive performance and fruit quality of strawberry plants of the cultivar ‘Pircinque’ (Short Day). The study was conducted in two evaluation cycles (2016/2017 and 2017/2018). The experimental design was divided into randomized blocks, with four repetitions, and plots consisting of 20 plants. This study evaluated the crown diameters of plants of 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19 mm. The productivity and number of fruit values increased significantly by 57% with larger caliber plants, which also provided precocity of productivity. The use of more vigorous plants also favored the production of fruits with higher soluble solids/titratable acidity ratios (+28%) and with epidermis coloration closer to intense red (−4.3%). For the cultivar ‘Pircinque’, plant crown diameters between 15 and 17 mm are the most favorable because they condition the best productive performances in combination with precocity and a good fruit quality.
