Employability is a key concern for many stakeholders, students, graduates, universities, organisations, and national decision-making bodies. Due to its ability to influence the paths towards success, the methods and factors affecting the development of employability have gained increased attention from these agents. This study aims to investigate how socio-emotional competencies and socio-economic factors are related to the employability of female graduates. Data were collected from 102 graduates at the Tathleeth Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Bisha in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Using structure modelling techniques, our findings indicate that socio-economic factors have an impact on the unemployed, whereas socio-emotional competencies impact the employed. Employability skills are shown to have an impact both on the unemployed and on socio-economic factors. Furthermore, the moderation effect of socio-emotional competencies and socio-economic factors on the relation between employability skills and employment is unsupported. Consequently, we conclude that the study’s results suggest the necessity of developing a theory of employability which investigates the conditions under which employability skills impact the employability of graduates. To this end, contextual factors must be identified so as to form the cornerstones of an adequate theory.
A company' s resources and capabilities are considered as a sources of superior performance. However, most literature has not clearly linked IT capabilities to superior performance. This paper, therefore, uses the RBV (resource based view) to explore the relationship between company' s IT capabilities and superior performance in Sudanese banking and insurance sectors, through comprehensive model of IT capabilities, which is narrowing define IT capabilities. Moreover, discussing the impacts of an internal factor the information intensity in this relation. Based on a questionnaire collected from IT employees and middle managers the findings of this study indicates that information intensity can be considered as predictor' s factors in the relationship between IT capabilities and superior performance. Moreover, the results show that the different dimensions of IT capabilities have different effects on superior performance. Additionally, the results show how IT capabilities affects the competitiveness of Sudanese' s banking and insurance sectors, and explore the source of advantage. Thus, provided RBV with certain limits, which required for a good theory.
Adaptation capabilities as a dynamic capability are essential for an organization to be adapted with the external environment, which can lead to creating a strategic advantage, knowing how these capabilities are created to help the organization to build its competitive strategies. IT resources as one of organizational resources has the ability to configure dynamic capabilities due to its evolution nature. Previous studies based on RBV and DCA investigate the relationship between IT resources and one IT dynamic capabilities. this study is aimed to investigate the relationship between IT resources by using comprehensive topography of IT resources, (core communication technology, group collaboration technology, and enterprise computing technology) and some dynamic adaptive capabilities (innovation, flexibility, and strategic capability) from the perspective of both managers and employees. Data were collected from 83 IT employees and 143 managers involved in both the banking and insurance sectors in Sudan. The questionnaire was used to collect data. Statics such as reliability and factor analysis were conducted to ensure data goodness. Partial least squares techniques (PLS) is used to test the relationships between variables. The results of the study show how IT resources affect dynamic capabilities.
Abstract-The previous studies that applied the Resource Based View (RBV), to examine the impact of IT resource on IT (Information Technology) competencies, often show different results. This study intends to investigate the impact of IT resources (core communication technology, group collaboration enterprise competences "inter-organization system usage") on IT capabilities (infrastructure, empowerment and functional capabilities) trying to discuss some empirical limitation of testing RBV such as able to disentangle the effects from a variety of sources, and how IT resources complement with other IT resources. Data were collected from 83 IT employees involved in Sudanese banking and insurance sector. A questionnaire was used to collect data. Reliability and factor analysis was conducted to ensure goodness of the data; regression analysis conducted to test the relationships between variables. The findings of this study do disentangle the effects on IT capabilities from a variety of sources. Moreover, it shows how IT resource complements each other in order to generate the outcome of capability.
The key enabler of strategic design based on IT is process level value; however, few researchers have tackled the mechanisms through which small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can create value at the process level. This study sheds light on the mechanism of creating social media business value at the process level by identifying the interaction effects of social media and IT resources and the mediating role of management's commitment to innovation as an organizational factor. The research model is based on the IT business value approach, quantitative and descriptive methodology is adopted, and the data are analyzed using structural equation modeling. Among the findings based on 301 SMEs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, that management's commitment to innovation is a necessary condition for social media resources to create dynamic capabilities, and the interaction effects between social media resources and IT resources on social media capability have no impact on the value-generation process at the process level. The result improves the understanding of the theoretical implications of social media business value at the process level, which can be used to guide theorizing about IT business value. SME managers, IT designers, and national decision-makers can use the findings to gain strategic advantage through social media platforms.
