Keywords

Pamelo; Analisis korespondensi; Atribut unggul

Abstract

Pummelo (Citrus maxima) has the potential to be developed in Indonesia, referring to its unique characteristics, both in terms of size, taste, and length of storage. Some accessions that common cultivated in Magetan are Nambangan, Magetan, Sri Nyonya, and there are also Adas clone that have not been released. Correspondence analysis was conducted to determine the superior attributes of the four pummelo citrus accessions, using primary data from limited panels for 132 fruit samples, which was carried out in 2014. Several steps were done: (1) cleaning data sourced from panel appraisal to group data based on their preference, (2) test the association of contingency tables between pummelo accessions and superior criteria, and (3) conduct correspondence analysis of pummelo accessions. The results show that the Nambangan variety is inherent with superior attributes of cleanliness, fruit shape, color, and thickness of the skin; the Magetan variety is tied to the number of seeds, while Sri Nyonya variety with thick flesh, flesh texture, and fruit flavor; while Adas clone with fruit flesh color. Based on the results, the panelist’s assessed the main superior attribute for internal appearance was fruit flesh flavor (18.98%) while the outer appearance was fruit shape (18.32%), where Sri Nyonya variety was the panelist’s first choice (27.37%). This result are expected to provide an overview to farmers regarding the suitability of the selected accessions, which will be developed, with targeted markets, as well as being reference for policy makers, especially Magetan district government, regarding the accessions that become priority to be developed, given that the domestic and export markets for this product are still widely open.
