Existing music search engines process music as they would process text, ignoring the richness of this media. We introduce here MuMa 1 (MUsic MAshup), a web application which makes the most of audio contents (the signal itself) to provide the user with new ways of browsing music. MuMa allows the user to search for particular chords sequences, to generate smart playlists and to extend its musical universe.
Quaero is a research and innovation program addressing automatic processing of multimedia and multilingual content. It fosters the development of new tools for navigation in large volumes of audiovisual content. The research and developments cover automatic information retrieval, analysis, segmentation and classification of text, speech, music, image and video. The nearly 200 M€ program, supported by Oséo Innovation, gathers 30 French and German partners around a data-centric collaboration between application projects led by industrials and a shared research structure, with a systematic use of technology evaluation. After three years of existence, Quaero is a very active eco-system leading to highly innovative demonstrators such as Voxalead that have been used already in large scale deployments. A separate file is submitted for each of the demonstrators, but all under the banner of the Quaero program.
