SUMMARY Ergot is a most potent and effective agent in the symptomatic management of the migraine attack. Cau¬ tion should, however, be observed, lest one be lulled into the belief that migraine lends immunity to ergotism. Overdosage should be scrupulously avoided. Malnu¬ trition and hypertension are conditions that should lead to further restraint in the use of ergot alkaloids, as brought out by the 2 cases reported.
