Research background: More than ever before governments, education institutions, industries, researchers and civilians are setting indebted attention to discover and learn more about behavioral science. The recent advancements in applying behavioral economics to the sphere of higher education show that building partnerships among educational institutions involves specific skills, strategies and knowledge that parties must know and use. Different industry representatives are scouting Higher Education Institutions for an ever-expanding set of innovation activities. Government invest more and more efforts to create innovative ecosystems where higher educational institutions are main stake holders in this special community between industries, corporations, governmental institutions, entrepreneurs and investors. The partnership involves adopting a management based on cooperation and change, communication and awareness of diversity. However, university-business cooperation is still a fragmented and indistinct field of research, and the understanding of UBC remains inadequate since most research is undertaken around specific elements, rather than as an encompassing, overarching and interconnected system Purpose of the article: To research the undergraduates’ appraisal of Higher Education Institution and Business collaboration. Methods: Expert interviews and undergraduate students’ survey using 7-point Likert scale questionnaire (non-probability snowball sampling method). Findings & Value added: Through evaluation of different statements about Higher Education Institution – Business collaboration, we discover distinctive statement importance and advancement according to respondent current views. This knowledge facilitates author’s capability to develop and advise nudges which can be applied in performance of such collaboration.
Behavioural economics have become hot topic in research and debate in last few decades. In the context of behavioural economics, it is possible to summarize resemblances and create a system based on predication and regularities of errors, by analysing consumer’s behaviour, which allows to solve issues of future process development. In paper “Applying behavioural economics in education: study of undergraduate practices of selecting educational institutions” the authors identify key factors which influence undergraduates to choose higher education institution. The purpose of this paper is therefore to identify key elements of the behavioural economics that can be used to influence undergraduate selection development in favour of higher education institution. Additionally, within the framework of the study are applied insights of behaviour economics, which help guidance general understanding of undergraduate decision making. Particularly focusing on heuristics, that undergraduates are using to ease the complexity of decision making, which can lead to systematic errors and bias. This study per se synopsizes the definite findings of developing behavioural economics, which allows to apply this knowledge to study undergraduate choice in selecting higher educational institution. In this study were used numerous methods, including literature review, interviews with representatives of higher education and behavioural economics experts and surveying undergraduates.
We are living in a time where technology is evolving tremendously transforming the traditional way of working. Due to technological development, factors such as general globalization, challenges caused by the current pandemic outbreak, have forced usto perform multifaceted tasks in collaboration with other individuals. As it was reported in the Harvard Business Review (2016) based on research over the last two decades, managers and employees spend half as much time in collaboration. The same study concluded that suggestively the majority of the employee’s workday is spent in communication with work peers. Besides work teams are becoming bigger, diverse, scattered in different locations, and more specialized than beforehand. Even though such teams with the prior mentioned characteristics can face daily challenges, they still can successfully overcome them and endeavor with collaboration. The aim of this paper is to evaluate which are the values that determine successful workplace collaboration. The paper will also investigate how group effort can increase employee satisfaction levels and their overall motivation. Furthermore, conclusions will be drawn on how the improvement of workplace collaboration can generate more value for businesses. The consequential outcome of this paper is knowledge gathered on difficulties employees face daily and how teameffort can stimulate innovations attheworkplace. Furthermore, by applying this knowledge in organizational management, leaders can keep up good teamwork practices as employees undertake progressively more employment of inter‐reliant nature.
The aim of the current paper is to evaluate the current Human Resource Management evolution in Latvia with respect to employee recruitment and selection practices. The focus is set on the used methods of selection process in organizations, when they are hiring personnel on different organization levels. The authors of the current paper applied several empirical methods to research the recruitment and selection processes. The study was executed in two stages: (1) discussion with Latvia’s recruitments practitioners (Delphi method), and (2) quantitative study performed in Latvia. The research questions were the following. Question 1: Which recruitment methods are used in their represented organizations? Question 2: Which of selection methods are used in their organization? To collect primary data an online survey form was created which was completely self‐administrative. A sample of 16 businesses from different industries in Latvia, was selected. The sampling was conducted during the whole month of January 2020 and data is reflected in the findings. The survey results demonstrate that the employee selection methods applied in Latvia are not that various. Most of the respondents holds on to the traditional methods such as panel interviews and one to one interviews.
Research purpose. It is rational to say that individual decision making is less time consuming and easier than group decision making. Decisions can be accomplished in such a manner as long the individual is an expert, well-informed on the topic, and is unbiased. However, due to globalization and technological advancement people are enforced to perform challenging tasks in collaboration with other individuals. Nowadays one of the factors which contribute the most to business success is whether or not employees are able to collaborate in team settings. By utilizing team settings businesses gain fasters operations and more effective results. Additionally, collaboration positively impacts individuals' responsibility, which furthermore empowers their motivation, especially in a digital workplace setup. Thus the purpose of this research is to determine and evaluate the most important values which impact collaboration in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).Methodology. The study was carried out in a non-experimental way with a focus to collect data for descriptive research. A two-phase structured self-administrative survey was distributed online (n=117). 7 points Likert scale was applied to sum survey responses over the set of individual values.Value / Practical implications. As a conclusion is offered a set of recommendations for managers concerning the improvement of collaboration in the workplace based on discovered individuals' values, like introducing Kanban boards to track and trace the efficiency of individual effort, increasing autonomy in the workplace, etc.
