We report a 44-year-old woman with intermittent left exotropia of 35 prism diopters at distance who initially exhibited alignment of both eyes after bilateral laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). The exophoria was not preserved due to myopic regression in the dominant eye. An uneventful LASIK treatment was performed to correct -11.00 -0.50 x 130 in the right eye and -13.50 -1.50 x 145 in the left eye. The aim was to achieve emmetropia in both eyes. Although an examination revealed exophoria at near and distance during the 6 months following refractive surgery, the tropic aspect of the divergent deviation appeared in the right eye following the myopic regression. Laser in situ keratomileusis is an effective option to achieve binocular visual quality in myopic anisometropic patients. However, myopic regression after LASIK may disrupt the binocular visual quality.
Healthy nutritional habits are of vital importance for good health and quality of life for all individuals in all life stages. Nutritional habits shaped in early childhood set the foundation for future dietary practices applied through lifespan, hence informing risk towards chronic diseases. A key contributor to child health is maternal impact. A healthy childhood status translates into increased lifespan, health, and life-quality, as well as better family and social interactions and improved academic performance. These conditions can contribute to a healthier and more vibrant workforce, and thus extend positive impact on the economic and overall development of a country. Evidence related to maternal impact on childhood dietary habits is limited in Turkey, an emerging economy with notable disparities and a significant segment (approximately one third) of its 83 million population under the age of 30. Hence, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the socioeconomic status (SES) of mothers on the dietary habits of their preschool children. A pilot cross-sectional observational study was conducted involving the mothers of 109 preschool children aged 4–6 years. Data on the nutritional status of children were collected through a food frequency questionnaire and a 24-h recall interview, while sociodemographic information was also collected, and statistical analyses conducted. An unexpected finding regarding the lack of association between the socioeconomic and employment status of mothers and the nutritional intakes of their children was observed. Interestingly, it appears that more traditional societal and nutritional practices typically undertaken in the case of lower SES, especially in more traditional settings like the case of Turkey, appear to extend a protective effect as per the nutritional habits and ensuing obesity risk in the case of children of women with lower SES. Another way to interpret our finding is that the difference in education and SES is not adequate to produce a significant effect in terms of children dietary intake. This is an interesting finding that warrants further study. Additionally, such studies serve to increase awareness about the importance of healthy nutritional practices in preschool children and the critical role of the mother on their nutritional status, particularly in the Turkish idiosyncratic setting.
Purpose -Planning of manufacturing and maintenance activities together, creating a balance between maintenance and production parameters and developments on maintenance will prevent technical and economic losses and increase production efficiency. Optimizing production and maintenance scheduling enable us to see how maintenance parameters (b, Z, t p , t r , a [o] ) will affect production performance, completion time (Ec.) and maximum machine availability, and shows which maintenance parameters minimum completion time (Ec min ) will be provided. Difference between Ec min and maximum completion time (Ec mak ) effect to the production costs will be calculated. The purpose of this paper is to show how a genetic algorithm (GA) procedure is successfully applied to the integrated optimization model to determine optimum production policies based maintenance parameters. Design/methodology/approach -GA is used for optimization and a computer program is prepared to make optimization for integrated preventive maintenance and production planning (IPMPP). Using the program, experimental studies are carried out with different number of jobs be done, to optimize production policy taking maintenance parameters into account. Findings -Numerous experiments have been conducted with developed GA computer program and see maintenance parameters (b, Z, t p , t r , a [o] ) effect to the production performance, Ec and maximum machine availability and at which maintenance parameters Ec min will be provided, and also operating cost saving and maintenance parameters how affect Ec subjects are examined. Due to optimal preventive maintenance (PM) and production sequence arrangement and application of PM provided by GA, Ec min is greatly decreased. Originality/value -In this paper, GA procedure is successfully applied to the integrated optimization model to determine optimum production policies based maintenance parameters.
This article aims to develop an organizational performance management model in a dynamic structure, formed in the scientific methods gathering together. All the criteria, expected to be in the performance evaluation form, create the performance criteria pool (shown as Ph). This pool has a dynamic structure containing criteria which are decided to take into consideration by the manager. Performance criteria pool getst together in main group names (shown as AG) and for each AG, half of the total score is taken by using two methods, of which significance degrees are the highest ones in the result of AHP. The cumulative score shows the "Growth in Learning" level. Growth in learning data, specify the level of knowledge and experience level, the tendency, strong and developable aspects of the evaluated personnel.
