Abstract. Power plant had a reputation of being one of the most hazardous workplace environments. Workers in the power plant face many safety risks due to the nature of the job. Although power plants are safer nowadays since the industry has urged the employer to improve their employees' safety, the employees still stumble upon many hazards thus accidents at workplace. The aim of the present study is to investigate work related accidents at power plants based on HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control) process. The data were collected at two coal-fired power plant located in Malaysia. The finding of the study identified hazards and assess risk relate to accidents occurred at the power plants. This study aims to determine flood victims’ satisfaction towards housing relocation at Kuala Krai, Kelantan, during the post-occupancy period. The evaluation of satisfaction criteria of housing relocation is derived from the literature review conducted. Throughout this study, a questionnaire survey was used to obtain the required data. This quantitative research method employed a questionnaire survey to identify flood victims' satisfaction towards housing relocation established from the selected 13 criteria. The data were collected from 80 out of 100 targeted respondents among the flood victims in Kuala Krai residing in this area. The data obtained were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0 software. The data were also interpreted in a table and ranked according to the mean score range. Hence, this study's overall findings indicate that the respondents were not satisfied with the relocation building's performance, particularly on housing design, indoor air quality, waste management, public amenities, public transportation, safety and were most dissatisfied with public areas. Therefore, it is hoped that this study's findings will be benefited mainly to improve the post-disaster housing construction for the flood victims in the future since the satisfaction level for every element is highlighted in this study.
Abstract. The North-South Expressway (NSE) (Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan) is the longest expressway in Malaysia with the total length of about 772 km (482 miles) running from Bukit Kayu Hitam in to Johor Bahru. It is known named after the highway's concessionaire, Projek Lebuhraya Utara Selatan Berhad (North South Expressway Project) abbreviated as PLUS Expressway. A study on the occupational safety among maintenance workers of PLUS Expressway was conducted. The aim for this research is to identify the hazards and determine the risk level of highway maintenance works. This research has identified the hazards occupies during highway maintenance works. Subsequently, the levels of risk for hazards during highway maintenance works are determined. The scope of this study is along the northern PLUS Expressway specified from Southern Ipoh to Bukit Kayu Hitam and focused on the maintenance workers of Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Berhad (PROPEL). Eighty (80) sets of questionnaires survey on likelihood and severity of highway maintenance hazards have been distributed to highway maintenance workers. The data were analysed by using Excel to compose weightage average index (WAI) in order to compute the risk level of those hazards. The result concluded that the extreme level of hazard that occurred during maintenance of highway are hazards related to electricity, hazards that engage with scaffolding, hazards while using crane and hazards involve fire and explosion.
