We analyze a territorial approach to deliver nursing homecare services to a territory public health. We present the case of the CSSS assigned to Côte-des-Neiges, Métro center and Parc Extension, specifically the case of the Côte-des-Neiges site (CLSC CDN), where a territorial approach is used since 1980. We first give an historical comparison of patient visits delivered in 1998-1999 and in 2002-2003. We follow with an in-depth analysis of the home services delivered in 2002-2003 to determine whether or not the territorial approach can well support the changing needs of the population. We conclude that the territorial approach to deliver homecare nursing services does not sufficiently support fluctuations in population needs for services. Not only is it difficult to predict these fluctuations, but it is difficult to accurately quantify the true needs for services since the availability of nursing services tends to determine the services actually delivered. In sectors of the territory where resources are more scarce (based on previous population needs analyses) or demand for services is greater, the result is work overload for the nursing staff. In addition, this results in service delivery inequities across the entire territory. Therefore, a more dynamic assignment of clients to the nurses based on each nurse's work load and case load rather than based on the geographic location of clients is worth the extra administrative time in case assignment to ensure a more equitable case load attribution between nurses as well as less inequities between clients in terms of service delivery considering their needs.
The liberation of world trade has significantly reduced Malaysian government protectionism of its national automotive industry. Local manufacturers have to strive for excellence in order to be able to compete in a business world that is dominated by a few big players. They cannot compete without excellent organizational behavior and culture. One of the important aspects of organizational culture and behavior is market orientation. A company's ability to win orders depends on how much it and the other companies in the supply chain are able to understand, translate and act upon customer requirements. This study is devoted to analyzing the relationship between market orientation, supply chain management, and the supply chain performance of all the industry's supply chain players. It also examines the mediating effect of supply chain management. Data were collected from manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry in Malaysia through questionnaires. Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the above relationship. The results indicate that supply chain management mediates the relationship between market orientation and supply chain performance. However, they also show that the relationship between market orientation and supply chain performance is insignificant. This finding has a major implication for policymakers and manufacturers, as will be discussed in this paper.
There are many issues affecting the human resources in organizations today. The volatility in the global economy has brought about many changes and the human resources are the most affected. They have to learn to adapt to these changes and cope with the daily pressures. No industry is spared as change is seen as the only constant. This research attempts to ascertain stressors from the perception of nurses at a private hospital in Malaysia. It investigates issues pertaining to their workload, work environment, social support, and manpower. Random sampling determined the sample size from the population frame provided by the hospital’s human resource department. Of the 108 nurses selected as respondents only 80 questionnaires were usable. The use of close-ended questionnaires using nominal and interval scales extracted information from the respondents. The data was then analyzed using the SmartPLS 3.3.2. Findings show that workload and manpower availability are stressors among the nurses. The management of the hospitals need to look into these two issues to help overcome the stress faced by the nurses.
In this empirical study, the general research question is "How do cultural values impact the global virtual teams (GVTs) practices when they communicate and collaborate using computer mediated communication (CMC)?" In particular, we explore the phenomenon of Malaysian GVTs working with culturally diverse members at a distance. In order to obtain in-depth understanding of such phenomenon, we employed a qualitative research methodology. We conducted semi-structured interviews with twenty-two ( 22) managers (from middle to high level) working in government link corporations (GLCs) and multinational corporations (MNCs). We found that there were distinctive intercultural communicative behaviors, all rooted in their diverse cultural values, beliefs, and attitudes. We establish interesting insights and understanding of computer mediated communication behaviors pertaining to patterns of usage and decision making processes.
