This article (1) on concomitant diagnoses, examination services, and drug prescriptions does not even mention one of the most common and very important causes of irritable bowel syndrome, namely colonization of the large intestine with anaerobes. A corresponding adequate therapy with a few doses of clindamycin can do wonders here, allowing the patients to heal and saving payers from paying inappropriate and meaningless psychotherapeutic measures.
