AbstrakDalam menghadapi Era Globalisasi dan Pasar Bebas tahun 20102020, saat ini sangat diperlukan kesiapan bagi seluruh komponen bangsa untuk dapat bersaing dengan bangsabangsa lain yang telah lebih dulu maju, termasuk kesiapan sumber daya manusia Indonesia yang unggul agar dapat mengolah sumber daya alam yang berlimpah demi kesejahteraan masyarakat. Saat ini belum ada program pemerintah melalui Puskesmas untuk meningkatkan kualitas Sumber Daya Manusia melalui program tumbuh kembang Ke sehatan Ibu dan Anak (KIA). Metode yang dapat dilakukan dalam program Puskesmas di wilayah Pa pua dapat dilakukan melalui 2 program antara lain program pemberian makanan tambahan (PMT) bagi ibu hamil, ibu menyusui dan balita secara berkala. Selain itu, program edukasi keluarga berupa edukasi pemberian asupan makanan alami berupa telur ayam di daerah pegunungan dan ikan laut dalam un tuk daerah pantai di Papua juga penting dilakukan. Sumber pangan kaya DHA berupa telur ayam dan ikan laut dalam merupakan bahan alami yang mudah didapatkan dan dikembangkan di hampir seluruh wilayah Papua bahkan seluruh keluarga masyarakat Papua hingga ke daerah pedalaman. Kedua program ini diharapkan mampu memberikan pembekalan pemahaman asupan DHA yang penting bagi tumbuh kembang otak bayi dan balita di masa depan keluarga dalam mempersiapkan generasi unggul masyarakat Papua khususnya masyarakat pedesaan. In addition, family education program by feeding natural foods such as chicken eggs in mountainous areas and deep sea fishing to coastal areas in Papua are also impor tant. DHArich food sources such as eggs and fish in the sea is a natural substance that is easily obtained and developed in almost all areas of Papua. Both of these programs are expected to provide a brief under standing intake of DHA is important for brain growth and development of infants and toddlers in the future of the family in preparing excellent generation of the Papuan, especially in rural societies.
