ABSTRACT:The aim of this research study was to develop a scale for self-efficacy beliefs in planning and organizing educational trips to out of school environments. First of all, relevant literature on developing a scale was reviewed in this stage. Within this context, the researcher identified total 45 initial items. The draft scale consisting of total 39 items for pre-implementation stage was administered to 358 pre-service teachers in their fourth year in Giresun Education Faculty in 2013-2014 academic years. As a result of the analysis, total 9 items were excluded from the scale. Validity analysis of the scale was performed and it was found that the factor loadings of the 30 items before being exposed to rotation were between 0.46 and 0.71. It was also detected that the scale's item-total correlation coefficients changed between 0.58 and 0.76. Moreover, total explained variance of the scale was determined to be 50.97 %. As a result of the reliability analysis, the scale's Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient was calculated to be 0.93, Guttmann Split-Half value was calculated as 0.89 and Spearman Brown reliability coefficient was computed to be 0.89.

Extended AbstractPurpose and Significance: The aim of this research study was to develop a scale for self-efficacy beliefs in planning and organizing educational trips to out of school environments. It is considered that the scale will make contributions to literature because it will determine pre-service teachers and teachers' self-efficacy to organize educational trips to out of school settings and take action to make up for weaknesses; therefore, it will contribute to filling the gaps in literature. Methods: This study is a general survey study which is intended to develop a scale. In the study conducted, this model is preferred because a scale which can be used to identify self-efficacy beliefs in planning and organizing educational trips to out of school environments is aimed at developing. The scale was developed by following stages. The stage of generating an item pool; relevant literature on developing a scale was reviewed in this stage and measurement
The aim of the study is to explore the academic achievement and performance tasks of students studying in a regional primary boarding school in science course with regard to different variables. The study was carried out via survey method and total 96 students, 57 of them boarding students and 39 of them non-boarding students studying in the 5th, 6th, and 7th grades in a regional primary boarding schools, participated in the study. The data of the study was obtained from the academic performance grade point average which the students got from three different exams in Science course and performance grade point average the students got from two different performance assignments (preparing a poster). MANOVA and correlation analysis were used for the statistical analysis of the data which were collected to seek answers for the sub-problems stated within the general framework of the research. The findings revealed that there is not a significant difference between the grade levels and the students' academic achievement scores and performance scores in science course, whereas a significant difference was found between the gender variable and performance scores, which was in favour of females. This result suggests that female students were more successful than male students when compared to performance assignments. Moreover, a meaningful difference was detected in favour of non-boarding students with regard to their academic achievement in science course and their grades in performance assignments. Finally, it was found that there was a moderate positive correlation between the students' academic achievement scores in science course and performance scores in performance assignments.
This research examined the effect of a course designed with different content on pre-service science teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs and knowledge about organizing curriculum-based trips. A pre-test post-test quasi experimental design was used in the research. One-hundred and thirty pre-service science teachers participated in the research. The research was carried out within the context of an elective course called “Informal Learning Environments in Science Education” and was conducted over 14 weeks in total for two hours per week. The research data were obtained by means of a questionnaire, self–efficacy scale for designing curriculum-based field trips (CFTSES) and semi-structured focus-group interviews. As a result of the research, it was found that the course content which included in-class and out-of-school setting practices in the 3rd group was the most effective. This was followed by the 2nd group which included only in-class implementations. The first group which was supported with visuals and theoretical related presented information was the group which was the least effected. The results of the research revealed that pre-service science teachers had mainly different concerns about safety, but that this did not deter them, as they still continued to design curriculum-based field trips for learners.
