In postmodern education philosophy, the areas of interest of students, studentoriented teaching and regulating learning-teaching environments according to the student are essential. Based on this viewpoint, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the student-related factors in terms of Cyprus history. The aim is to determine the attitudes of students towards Cyprus history (in the case of local-oral history) and to explore the student-related problems from the perspective of teachers in particular. In the study, the attitude levels of students are determined and the problems experienced in Cyprus history are described; furthermore, this is followed by a discussion on postmodern education and local-oral history education. Postmodern education in the case of Cyprus history is evaluated. In this context, the problem sentence of the research is as follows: "What are the student and teacher opinions in regard to local and oral Cyprus history education on the basis of postmodern education?" The model of this study is a mixed research method, which is based on both quantitative and qualitative data. Stratified random sampling was used in this study and a total of 800 secondary and high school students from five different districts of Cyprus were reached.
Postmodernism is characterized as a concept following the modernity and it is referred together with the concepts of deconstructionism or post-structuralism. Postmodernism, which is used in the meaning of the future of modernism, has an attitude against modernism. Today, the debate on postmodernism and modernism has not ended yet. Postmodernists see the world as a pattern which is alterable and diverse. The concept of postmodern history is against the traditional concept of history. As the postmodernism gives importance to popular culture, it argues that it is necessary to use local and oral history methods in the writing of history. Persons and groups who have not entered the history textbooks should be studied, the events that are important to the local community should be examined and discussed, and daily life should be addressed. Postmodernism places importance on localism and local culture. In this context, postmodernism considers verbal history as the most appropriate approach to the study of local history. The purpose of this research is to explain the reflections of postmodern education in history education. The research is a study in documentary screening type. For the collection of research data, research related to the subject were used. In this research, the concept of postmodernism is tried to be explained and the effects of this concept on education, especially history education, are discussed. As a result of the nature of postmodernism, it has brought a new perspective to traditional history and history education. Although this perspective has been widely accepted by traditionalist historians, it has been adopted by many innovative historians, because of the new approaches in education. Especially constructivism, the reflection of the postmodernist approach, is a widely accepted conception today. In this context, understanding postmodernism as a concept and studying its reflections on history education are the main purpose in this research. The concept of postmodern history is seen as an understanding of local and verbal history. Therefore, in this research, the concepts of local and verbal history have been tried to be explained by also using the literature review.

The aim of this study is to determine the new trends concerning curricula and instruction. The articles that are published in journals of SSCI and ERIC databases are taken into the scope of this study. The new trends regarding relevant literature are tried to be identified by analysing 3079 articles in total through the content analysis method. Also, the articles that are taken into the scope of the study are limited with the articles published between years of 2005 and 2014. The articles, throughout the study are analysed according to certain criteria like published year, method, journals that articles published, research subjects and sample population. The results of the study reveal that qualitative methods have been used more frequently in the studies carried out in 2014. Besides, it is clearly seen in the findings that articles are carried out with teachers as sampling population. Most of the articles are carried out as a case study and interview forms, questionnaires and documents are the main data collection instruments preferred to be used. Keywords: curriculum, new trends, instruction, case study
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
