Highlights
Prevalence of pulmonary thromboembolic disease (PTE) is 38% in COVID-19 patients who underwent CTPA. Patients with more severe COVID-19 changes are more likely to have PTE.
Majority of PTE is observed within smaller pulmonary vessels (75%) and lungs demonstrating COVID-19 changes (72%). Subsegmental vessels should be scrutinized for presence of PTE.
D-dimer values may have potential in guiding anticoagulation therapy and evaluating prognosis in these patients.
The study highlighted the need to include a whole-level approach in organisation to improve research culture and to include communication within the Cooke's framework if evidence-based practice is to influence the quality of patient care.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
