The purpose of the study is to examines the dominant design and learning strategy used by various MOOCs platforms to foster students’ Self Directed Learning. Method used in the study was based on the search of relevant literature through online database such as IEEE Explore, ProQuest, ScienceDirect and ResearchGate. The keywords in the search for the relevant literature include MOOCs and learning strategy, MOOCs and design strategy, MOOCs and Self Directed Learnig. The result of the meta-analysis revealed that the most frequently used learning strtegies by the various MOOCs platforms are the social construcvist and peer-to-peer approach to learning. These two strategies are found to be related to cMOOCs and xMOOCs. Similarly, of all the designs the dominant design strategy use by MOOCs providers is cMOOC and partially the blended or hybrid MOOCs. The study revealed the dominant learning strategies employed by MOOCs platforms. This may help other MOOCs designers to give emphasis to the use of best learning strategies and perhaps improve on the existing ones. The findings may also have implication to students willling to acquire knowledge through MOOCs to choose the appropriate instruction strategy that will Foster SDL.
Hybrid Service-Learning, an emerging trend of combining co-curriculum course embedded with service-learning instructional strategies in online settings, has increasingly gained popularity, as many service-learning educators are moving into online platforms. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has accentuated its needs, thus forcing education systems worldwide to find alternatives to face-to-face instructions, one of them being Hybrid Service-Learning. This has prompted many researchers to attempt utilising gamification in online courses to increase students’ engagement. The purpose of this research was to report a gamified Hybrid Service-Learning (GAMYSEL) through students’ level of engagement proposed by Schlechty, used as a data classification to compare students’ scorings in their earning of points, badges, level and leaderboards. The results of the study indicated that, the students’ levels of engagement were relatively high through Advocacy Hybrid-Service Learning approach, where majority of them achieved the Strategic Compliance and Optimal Engagement categories. The students’ generic skills were further analysed with one-way repeated measures ANOVA and it was discovered that, GAMYSEL had positive impacts in developing these skills in five stages of service-learning. Both of these findings suggest that student’s engagement and generic skills had a significant effect on students learning after the use of GAMYSEL.
This paperpresentsthe central results of a survey analysis carried out in the UAE with respect to business excellence initiatives. The main purpose of this research is to investigate the use of business excellenceinitiativesin Dubai quality award-wining organizations. Thestudyused a self-administered questionnairetoconfirm the adaptability of business excellence initiativesby Dubai quality award-wining organizations. Several statistical tests including descriptive statistics, internal consistency reliability and content validitywere employed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences(SPSS). The result of the study shows that various business excellence initiatives already implemented byDubai quality award-wining organizations for their efforts towards business excellence. The award-wining organizations believe that business excellenceinitiatives areimportant in helping them reach their organizational goals.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
