PACS. 64.70M -Transitions in liquid crystals. PACS. 61.25H -Macromolecular and polymer solutions (solubility, swelling, etc.); polymer PACS. 68.42 -Surface phase transitions and critical phenomena. melts.Abstract. -The confinement of, liquid crystalline polymers dissolved in a nematic solvent is analysed using a mean-field theory. For homeotropic anchoring the confinement triggers a tilting phase transition. The transition is reminiscent of the Frederiks transition, however it may be either first or second order.
We present a simple experiment in which the transmission of a laser beam through a sample is modulated by a second laser. The effect is explained on the basis of impurity absorption and the concomitant changes of electron populations at the impurity levels.
The surgical properties of pulsed 0.53 m Nd:YAG laser have been investigated. The tissues of genitals have been treated with 0.53 mm laser beam and investigated microscopically, injury dept to width ratio was established. The spectrophotometry ofthe same tissues was performed and optical densities were compared. The advantages of 0.53 jtm, 1.06 .tm, 1.32 tm Nd:YAG lasers using for gynecological
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
