The results of several new types of experiments on 1OW-K type-II hysteretic superconductors are reported. These include measurements of the detailed structure of hysteresis loops, surface-coating experiments, hollow-cylinder magnetization measurements, transport-current measurements, and magnetization of totally hysteretic samples. These results are interpreted in terms of a surface mechanism for hysteresis.
and Flux-trapping properties of type-II superconductors are described. A linear relationship between the remnant magnetization and the internal field is observed in the 1OW-K superconductors but not in Nb 3 Sn and Nb 3 Zr. It was found that the linear relationship and the associated slopes are to a large extent independent of much of the bulk and are related to surface currents. In addition, the linear relationships are observed only in 1OW-K superconductors that exhibit appreciable diamagnetic behavior.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
