During the high-water seasons of June-July 1976 and May-June 1977, 325 samples of suspended sediment were collected from the Amazon River and its tributaries between Iquitos in Peru and the river mouth in Brazil. The suspended sediment was collected with a point sampler, a depth-integrating sampler, and a bucket or bottle dipped into the river. Concentrations were determined by weighing the sediment caught on sieves and membrane filters. .Particle sizes were determined by wet sieving and, to a lesser extent, by pipette and visual-accumulation tube. Velocity data were collected with an Ott-type current meter and from the volume and fill time of our samples. Sixty-five samples of bed material were collected from the Amazon River and its major tributaries between Belem, Brazil, and Iquitos, Peru. Samples were taken with a standard BM-54 sampler, a pipe dredge, or a Helley-Smith bedload sampler. The Jemez Mountains volcanic complex in north-central New Mexico is an area of geothermal-energy exploration. This report is part of a study by the U.S. Geological Survey of the Jemez geothermal hydrologic system. Hydrologic data for the area were retrieved from the Survey T s National Water-Data Storage and Retrieval (WATSTORE) System. Summaries of the availability of peak-flow, water-quality, and daily-values data for 100 surface-water sites, and well data and summaries of the availability of water-quality and water-level data for 294 groundwater sites are presented.
The Jemez Mountains volcanic complex, located in north-central New Mexico at the intersection of the Rio Grande rift and Jemez lineament, is a potential location for geothermal energy exploration. This bibliography lists selected publications pertaining to the geology, hydrology, geochemistry, geothermometry, geophysics, ecology, and geothermal and hydrologic modeling aspects of the Jemez region.
