The random laser (RL) based on organic Rhodamine 6G (R6G) laser-dye and Titanium dioxide (TiO2) suspended nanoparticles have been prepared with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) as a host. Both liquid and spray-coated homogeneous film samples of 22.4 µm-30.1 µm thickness range were use. Optimum concentrations have been determined depending on the normal fluorescence spectra which give evidence that the laser dye provides amplification and TiO 2 nanoparticles as scatter center. At the optimum concentrations, results of the random laser (RL) under second harmonic Nd: YAG laser excitation show that the values of bandwidth at full width half-maximum (FWHM) and the threshold energy are about 9 nm and 15 mJ respectively, which represent the minimum value for the liquid samples in the current research. Correspondly, these values become 14 nm and 15 mJ for film sample. The broadening that can be attributed to the concentration quenching of a laser dye at high concentration levels has been observed.
In this work, a home-made closed-field unbalanced magnetron system for plasma sputtering purposes was constructed and operated. The effect of magnetron was introduced by comparing the obtained Paschen's curve in existence of magnetron with and without magnetron. Characterization of Paschen's curve as well as discharge current with gas pressure at different distances between the discharge electrodes was introduced. Optimum conditions to operate such home-made system for sputtering purpose were determined.
Abstract:The solid host of a laser dye modifies its spectroscopic properties with respect to its liquid host. During the Sol-Gel process the dye molecules suffer from changing their environment. Two parameters affect this matter, the change in the concentration due to the evaporation of the solvent (drying) and the caging of dye molecules inside the pores or attachment to the silica network. Rhodamine 6G absorption and fluorescence spectra with different concentrations, during Sol-Gel time processing, have been studied. Both, absorption and fluorescence spectra of the dye in the solid host, for different concentrations, show a blue-shift relative to its liquid phase.
