This study aims to discuss the views and the problems faced by the pre-service teachers on the 2013 curriculum. The implementation of the 2013 curriculum is very different from the previous curriculum. Many obstacles significantly affect learning outcomes. In terms of the media used the assessment of the 2013 curriculum is more complicated than the previous curriculum. Then the methods used to convey the learning material has not been effective or not even following the learning material to communicate. This study used a qualitative descriptive method by giving two questions related to the 2013 curriculum. The participants were two pre-service teachers who had the best GPA. In this study, the researchers found that the 2013 curriculum was a new curriculum that followed the current technological era and also under the demands of the students' needs. Teacher candidates do not only learn how to understand teaching materials, but also how to apply these teaching materials in the teaching and learning process. In this study, researchers found that prospective teacher students faced obstacles in their application, for example in terms of classroom management and teaching preparation. Based on these findings, the pre-service teachers should be given the consecutive training on the 2013 curriculum implication.
This study aims to analyze Perceptions of English and Literature Department Students perceptions on lecturer’s feedback for Critical Book Review (CBR). A descriptive qualitative design was used in this study. The data sources are all students outside the English Education study program who take 5 courses, namely Curriculum and Textbook Analysis, Translation in Language Teaching, English Culture in ELT, Technology in ELT and Management of English Based Institution. The data are the results of questionnaires given to students outside the Study Program who are conducting the student exchange program (Permata). Research shows that students feel helped by the feedback provided by the lecturer in the form of corrections, criticisms, suggestions, and providing solutions either orally or in writing. The reason why lecturers provide feedback is to measure students' abilities in doing CBR assignments.
The spread of COVID-19, which is difficult to predict, has caused the community to experience shocks both mentally and psychologically which also affects the social relations of the community down to the lowest level. The culture of gathering in Indonesian society that has become a daily routine has stopped and there is no concern about when it will recover. The cracks for the sake of grazing in our society are beginning to be felt. People began to experience panic anxiety so that government recommendations and religious institutions were ignored by some people with logical defects and put forward emotional sentimentality. In that condition, social capital in synergy with local wisdom can be a solution so that social anxiety and fractures do not occur.
This paper deals with the description of ecolinguistics on Malay Langkat mantra. The main objective of this paper is to explore especially the Malay Langkat mantra (especially those related to traditional medications) on the basis of the ecolinguistic study. Malay Langkat mantra was very popular amongst the Malay Langkat society in the past. The mantra was used by traditional medicine man called pawang/bomoh/dukun. He commonly has supernatural ability in medicating the local society in almost all kinds of diseases. The medication man has his own specific mantra for specific diseases and it is believed by the society that the diseases will relieve soon after the medication man read the mantra. The mantra themselves consist of short sentences in the forms of traditional poetry. They sometimes used words or phrases taken from the nature (flora and fauna)
The purposes of the study were to (1) find out the level of students reading comprehension of different genres and (2) to describe students reading comprehension of different genres of text. The subject of the research was the eight grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Pacurbatu. The research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by using reading comprehension test and interview. Then The data were analyzed by identifying the result of test first, describing the result and the last was explaining the result. Based on the result of the data analysis, it was found that the students were good at both literal and inferrential. Literal comprehension was 75.95% better than inferrential comprehension 72,68 %. Furthermore, students reading comprehension of narrative texts was the dominant genre with 75.00% which belonged to good category and followed by recount text with 72.98%, procedure text with 73.79% and the last was descriptive text with 69.75% which the only genre belonged to fair category
