Background: The use of health applications (apps) in smartphones increased exponentially during COVID-19. This study was conducted the with the aim to understand the factors that determine the consumer’s perception of health apps in smartphones towards telemedicine during COVID-19 and to test any relation between these factors and consumers towards Telemedicine in India. Methods: This questionnaire-based cross-sectional study was conducted from July 2021 to December 2021 in India. Out of 600 selected participants, 594 responded and in that 535 valid questionnaires were measured. The questionnaire consists of close-ended responses, with the first part consisting of demographic information, the second part consisting of questions associated with consumers’ perceptions and the third part kept for suggestions and complaints. The questionnaire was distributed using digital platforms via WhatsApp or email. A 5-point Likert scale, ranging from strongly agree’ (5) to strongly disagree (1) was used to record responses. Results: Results revealed a high response rate of 90%. The highest score was obtained for the question assessing the satisfaction of the users towards health apps [1175 = 500 (agree-4) + 675 (Strongly agree-5)]. The interface of the app scored very low, showing disagreement (514) with app functionality, and was the most common disadvantage as perceived by patients. The mean scores of reliabilities and vicinity of health services; efficacy and comprehensive health information; development and improvement of health apps and telemedicine (3.24, 3.18, 3.62, 3.49), respectively, show the difference in attraction existing between groups. There is a strong positive correlation between the variables except for efficacy and comprehensive information about health and Telemedicine (−0.249), development and improvement of health apps, and reliability and vicinity of health services (−0.344) which have a negative correlation. Conclusions: The findings of this survey reveal a positive outlook of health apps toward telemedicine. This research also found a strong forecaster of the consumer’s perception of health apps in smartphones towards telemedicine. In the broad spectrum, the future of health app affiliates for telemedicine is better affected by the consumer’s perception of health app efficacy. This study suggests that health app marketers develop more innovative apps to increase usage and help consumers.
Background: World population ageing is enduring, the proportion of older persons has been rising steadily, from 7 per cent in 1950 to 11 per cent in 2007, with an expected rise to reach 22 percent in 2050. Globally the population of older persons is growing at a rate of 2.6 per cent per year, considerably faster than the population as a whole which is increasing at 1.1 percent annually. The issue of health care-seeking (or medical-care) behaviour is crucial to all society. Objective: To know the Socio-demographic distribution of elderly population in rural area, observe the Health seeking behaviour of the rural elderly and to know the available health care services in rural area of Uttar Pradesh. Materials and Methods:A community based Cross sectional study was conducted from October 2010 to June 2011. Persons aged 60 years and above were selected by multistage random sampling. The minimum Sample size of 400 was calculated using formula 4pq/d2 and finally a total of 411 individuals were studied. The data was analyzed by means, proportions and Chi-square test, p value less than 0.05(p<0.05) at 95% confidence interval, was consider for significant, SPSS Version 12 Statistical Software was used to analyze the data. Results: Out of the 411 elderly persons, 214 (52.1%) were males and 197(47.9%) were females. Mean age for the entire study population was 69.2 years with a standard deviation of 7.8 years. Majority of the elderly population were illiterate (70.1%). Higher proportion of females was illiterate (92.4%) as compared to males (49.5%). Among the 411 elderly persons, 188 (45.7%) sought treatment from private practitioner and private hospital, 133 (32.3%) from non registered practitioner (Quack), only 77 (18.9%) sought treatment from Government hospital and remaining 13 (3.1%) used home remedies or sought help from traditional healers. Conclusion: Majority of the geriatric subjects were in the age group of 60 to 69 years. Awareness must be generated among the elderly regarding the problems related to the ageing, strict implementation of legislation on parents' care by their children and Promotion of income.
Background and Objectives: Optimal blood pressure control is achieved by medication adherence. This will reduce the risk of associated morbidities and mortalities. The present study aimed to determine medication adherence and its associated factors among hypertensive patients attending different primary health centers (PHC) in Abha, Saudi Arabia (KSA). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among ten different PHCs in Abha, KSA. Simple random sampling procedure was utilized to choose 400 participants. A structured anonymous questionnaire was used in the present study. Analysis of the data was done using the SPSS program, version 23. A logistic regression statistical test was applied to identify the independent associated factors of medication adherence. Furthermore, we have applied Spearman's test to find the correlation between overall B-IPQ score and medication adherence score. Results: A total of 400 hypertensive patients responded in the present survey. More than one-third of the participants (36.3%) were in the high adherence category group, while the remaining participants (63.7%) were either low or medium adherence category. The binary logistic regression analysis revealed that low and medium adherence category is significantly associated with age (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 0.96, 95% CI =0.93-0.99, p = 0.021), married participants (AOR = 0.42, 95% CI =0.33-0.58, p = 0.001), residing at village (AOR = 1.49, 95% CI =1.14-1.73, p = 0.038), and participants with monthly family income of 5000 to 7000 SAR (AOR = 3.06, 95% CI =1.62-5.79, p = 0.001). A negligible positive correlation was revealed between illness perception and medication adherence. Conclusion:The present study revealed that hypertensive patients poorly adhere to their antihypertensive medications. This low adherence is significantly associated with the age, monthly income, people living in rural areas, and married participants. The present study results recommend sustained efforts to implement health education programs and awareness-raising interventions targeted at hypertensive patients.
