Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the cultural sensitivities and caregiving experiences of nursing students who care for immigrant patients in clinical and community health practices. Method: Descriptive design was used in mixed research methods. Quantitative data of the study were collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Form and the Intercultural Sensitivity Scale. Qualitative data were collected by in-depth interview method using a semi-structured interview form. Results: The mean age of the students was 21.68±1.70 years and 78% of them were women. 94% of the students did not receive training on intercultural care and 82% of them had difficulties while giving care to immigrant patients. 85.37% of the difficulties experienced by the students were related to communication. Intercultural Sensitivity Scale mean score of the students was 92.58±9.97. As a result of in-depth interviews with the students, two themes emerged; communication and respect. Conclusion:In the study, it was determined that the nursing students did not receive training on cultural care, did not speak the common language, and had problems while giving care to the patient. For this reason, it is recommended that intercultural care be discussed in detail in nursing education curriculum.
