5287containing all the other constituents. The reactions were run at 25 OC in a thermostated cell of a Beckman 24 spectrophotometer by following the decrease in the absorption at the A , of 1 ; (358 nm). All reactions were carried out with the substrate at more than 10 times the concentration of that of Isand the decrease in absorbance was recorded up to 8040% conversion. In all cases good pseudo-first-order behavior was observed.Equilibrium Constant Determinations. The equilibrium constants were determined by measuring the optical density of a solution containing the substrate at constant concentration [(0.6-1.0) X MI and CD in variable concentration in the range (0-15) X M. The wavelength for measurement was that where the difference spectrum shows a maximum. These values are shown in Table IV. All determinations were carried out in the thermostated cell of a Shimadzu spectrophotometer UV 260 with a solution of CD in water at the same concentration in the blank cell to substract any contribution to the observed absorption due to CD.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
