In recent years, self-assessment has been increasingly implemented as an alternative method of assessment in tertiary educational contexts. The research described in this paper employed semi-structured interviews as an instrument to evaluate engineering lecturers’ perceptions towards student self-assessment in developing their non-verbal communication skills in technical oral presentations. A sample of 10 engineering lecturers from a technical university participated in the study. Semi-structured interview data revealed that most engineering lecturers viewed student self-assessment positively and they reported on student self-assessment as providing learning values, because the latter viewed student self- assessment as a learning aid. The results further showed that student self-assessment could promote the students’ learning, an increase of students’ willingness to deliver oral presentations, and self-enabling. Therefore, student self-assessment can be a powerful method to increase learning by raising the awareness about the necessity of non-verbal communication skills in delivering technical oral presentations. This research aims to analyze the issue of delivering an oral presentation and the undergraduates’ perceptions. The study intends to examine ESL undergraduates’ perceptions of oral presentation performances and to view any statistical correlation between the undergraduates’ assessments of oral presentations and their perceptions of presenting their performances. This study was conducted with 242 undergraduates at Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia. A quantitative approach was implemented to attain the aims of the study. The findings indicate that ESL undergraduates possess a positive perception of delivering oral presentations. Furthermore, it revealed a weak positive relationship between the ESL undergraduates’ perception and their oral presentation assessments. This study is significant as the issue of understanding the importance of the ESL undergraduates’ perception will help lecturers as well as undergraduates in developing strategies that could be fruitful to enhance the undergraduates’ oral presentation skills. Due to the spread of the pandemic, the learning system has changed which affected the students’ performance to master the English language appropriately inside classrooms. Social media is an essential means that facilitate the learning process for both learners and teachers. Therefore, this study aims to find out if the students are affected negatively or positively in their learning process through the use of social media during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how social media contributes to EFL students. This study has been carried out using a qualitative interview conducted with 9 (male and female) students. In this study, the findings revealed that third-year EFL students beneficially used social media applications; they were impacted positively by the adoption of social media in learning the English language. So, students’ learning performances were improved. Also, the COVID-19 pandemic affected their English language skills positively.
