With the rapid development of urbanization, the amount of urban sewage treatment is increasing. Waste activated sludge (WAS) is a by-product of sewage treatment, and its output is increasing year by year. How to properly handle WAS is related to the sustainable development of the sewage treatment industry. The production of ceramsite from WAS is an effective way to realize the utilization of sludge. This paper comprehensively describes the use of WAS as raw material, adding clay, cement, glass powder, shale, coal gangue, river sediment, pulverized fly ash and other auxiliary materials (AM) to produce sintered sewage sludge ceramsite and non-sintered sludge ceramsite. This paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the process of making ceramsite from WAS. The research points out the development prospect of ceramsite from WAS.
It took SS (sewage sludge), PFA (pulverized fuel ash) and BS (building spoil) as raw materials to carry out experiments. An orthogonal experimental design was used to arrange experiments on the mixture ratio and processing parameters to find out a better ratio of green pellets and the right parameters of firing process. In accordance with the right ratio and processing parameters, experiments were carried out by MF (Muffle furnace) to produce lightweight aggregates. The characteristics of products such as 1h water absorption rate, packing density, particle strength were tested. According to the results of orthogonal experiment and range analysis, the optimized parameters suitable for different products requirements were selected. The repeatability of the optimized parameters is proved by the repeated experiments of the same batch, and the corresponding product performance is stable.
Abstract-The proper disposal of sewage sludge has been paid much attention. The traditional methods of sludge disposal include sanitary landfill, composting, thermo chemical treatment (including pyrolysis and combustion), and sea disposal. Urban sludge has the dual attributes of pollutants and resources. The resource utilization of sludge is the best way for sludge treatment and disposal. In view of the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional sludge treatment methods, this paper summarizes the research status of several typical resource utilization technologies. This paper expounds the latest research progress of the three aspects of energy regeneration and utilization of sludge, conversion and utilization of building materials and land use. The purpose is to promote the reform and further development of sludge utilization.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
