This paper aims to investigate the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on the economic growth of Nepal for the period 2008/09 to 2017/18 A.D. yearly data. It evaluated the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) performance and the trends of FDI and Gross Fix Capital Formation (GFCF) in Nepal. To demonstrate the relationship between Nepalese Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Gross Fix Capital Formation (GFCF) Multiple-Regression-Model has been applied along with various econometrics techniques such as Unit-Root Test, Granger-Causality Test and Ordinary Least Square (OLS). GDP in this model is used as dependent variable whereas FDI and GFCF are measured as independent variables. According to the results, Unit Root Test indicated that all the variables included in the model were not stationary at level except FDI, whereas GDP and GFCF are stationary at first difference. The model is overall significant with the positive and significant relationship of GDP, FDI and GFCF. Result also indicate a good fit for the model with R2=86%. The Granger Causality Test revealed that there was no causality between the variables since all p-value obtained are more than 5%. Based on the empirical result of this paper, policy recommendation proposed that for Nepal to generate more foreign direct investment, hard work should be made at solving problems of government involvement in business; relative closed economy; corruption; weak public institutions; and poor external image, and political instability.
This research work is an empirical analysis of Taxation and economic growths ARC five countries, covering the period 1990-2012. Taxation was disaggregated into: goods and service tax, Personal Income Tax, the other tax, the revenue tax, the Government savings, FDI, Export and Import and they were used independent variables while the GDP per capita income growth was used as dependent variables for measuring economic growth in SAARC. In order to establish interconnection between taxation and economic growth, secondary data were collected from the World Fact Book, SAARC Statistical Bulletin and IMF statistical data. The data collected were analyzed using the Panel Data Regression Analysis and the fixed effect and random effect model regression were used while hypotheses were tested using T-Statistics and Housman Test. The results of the analysis reveal that a significant Negative relationship exists between Taxation and economic growth in SAARC.
Published in 1973, the black writer Toni Morrison’s novel Sula narrates a journey of the main protagonist Sula, who after learning that male chauvinist forces have perennially stunted her spontaneous growth, decides to protest and rebel against those very forces. This article analyzes the novel from feminist lens to explore how far the main protagonist Sula denies hierarchical order of male superiority. The paper provides critical remarks about Sula, then employs feminism as a theoretical tool, and applies the same theory to analyze the text to present Sula’s resistance.
A strong bond between school family and community should be indispensable. Students severely suffer when they fail to maintain mutual respect between these two stakeholders. The research suggests a viable solution after unfolding the existing detachment of the secondary level community schools with the social accessory in Duduwa Municipality of Banke district in the western part of Lumbini Province, Nepal. I purposively selected the secondary schools of Duduwa Rural Muncipality to explore the problematic in relationship with society and the school family. The rationale behind the selection lies in the low academic achievement of the students. I used observation, interview, and document review to collect the information from the selected schools. The school teachers and guardians have a grudge against the lack of proper educational value and quality upgrading education. The academic discussion got the inference that imagined dominant knowledge of the head teacher, members of the school management committee, president of parent teachers’ association and teachers detaches relation with the society. Therefore, the research recommends measures to be taken by the school management committee and the school family to develop smooth and healthy relations with the public to improve public involvement in quality accreditation.
Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness portrays the inhabitants of Congo from non-human perceptions. Charles Marlow’s observation and analysis of the citizens of Congo are based on prejudiced viewpoints and pre-defined white archetypes. The chief motive of the Belgians was to justify the native as ferocious and collect the ivory from Congo. Natives did not recognize the worth of tusk while the white men ship it to Europe to brand ornamental articles. This representation of the Congolese annihilates the identity of the native, depicting them as barbaric to accomplish their trade motive. Marlow’s narrative attempts to commodify the natives and display the white people as the embodiment of civilization. Human beings treat non-human behavior to the inhabitant in the designation of civilization. The narrator’s perspective is instrumental to the authorial voice in abolishing the human identity of the people of Congo. His white racial lens constructs the nature and character of the citizens. The general world of the white as represented by Marlow delivers the people of Congo a forceful encyclopaedia of education and civilization. Then develops cultural dominance comprising reason, intelligence, and wisdom. The forceful negation demolishes the real identity of the natives and hence creates a racial verdict. The firm outlook of the white Europeans displays the vivacious demarcation for exploitation. Hence, the text establishes a world of hierarchy among the people living in the same geographical location. The depiction of predisposed attitude and deficit positioning for ivory trading thrashes natives. Such doings cause revolt in the world.
