The aim of this paper is to check the effect of top management commitment, perceived environmental uncertainty and environmental strategy on the environmental performance (EP) of manufacturing firms of China by considering the role of environmental management accounting (EMA) and environmental management control system (EMCS). With the increase in economic activities the environmental issues have also increased. Companies are now more conscious for the preservation of environment and thus are working on it. Environmental Accounting is the system through which companies manage environmental issues. Economic development of any country along with the well-being of that country's society can only be attained when there is equilibrium between optimization of wealth and environmental protection. This perspective is raising its importance day by day and hence spreading awareness in public and government as well. Therefore, there is more pressure on companies to focus on environmental protection and to align their operations in such a way that there is no damage to the ecosystem. On the basis of results of this research it is believed that EMA and EMCS play very important role in the achievement of perfect EP. EMA and EMCS are two separate tools and good mediators which improve the performance of the firm regarding environment and align the management regarding environmental costs with sequence. This study will help government and manufacturing firms in making policies regarding environment friendliness through EMA and EMCS as previous studies have also generated same kind of help and benefits.
Through the global financial crisis, South Asia and South East Asia ratified their economic prospect and by increasing integration with the world economy, a demand boom by the Asian middle-class and most importantly foreign direct investment. In this study, we focused on the FDI inflows. This study examined the impact of institutional quality on FDI inflows in South Asia and South East Asia from 1986 to 2016 using a panel-based approach. The result of Unit roots suggested using Panel ARDL. The Panel ARDL results revealed that institutional quality strongly influences FDI inflows in South East Asia and weakly in South Asia. Our findings also revealed that economic factors are strongly significant in South Asia and institutional variables are strongly significant to attract FDI inflows in South East Asia. The weak regulatory system hampers South Asian countries as there is lack of transparency, accountability in public work. Therefore, this study suggests South Asia learn a lesson from South East Asia and make an improvement to their institutional quality.Contribution/ Originality: This study helps the policy makers to understand the loopholes of institutional quality such as political instability, inefficiency bureaucracy and corruption which may deter the smooth FDI inflows in the regions and take corrective actions against corruption. It will also allow for future analysis about the FDI inflows in a country.
This study empirically examines the impacts of energy consumption and energy prices on economic growth for three data sets of panel groups of Next 11 countries within a multivariate panel framework over the period 1990-2013. For the entire panel group of Next 11 countries, it is obtained from the results of panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag estimation approach that, energy consumption has a positive and energy prices have a negative impact on economic growth, both in the long-run and short-run; and a unidirectional causal linkage between economic growth and energy consumption is confirmed by the results of panel causality tests. For the 6 of Next 11 net oil-importing countries panel group, it is found from panel Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares method that, economic growth is negatively influenced by both energy consumption and energy prices. The results of panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag estimation approach for the 5 of Next 11 net oil-exporting countries panel group portrays that, in the long-run, energy consumption negatively affects economic growth and energy prices positively influence economic growth, while in the short-run, economic growth is negatively affected by both energy consumption and energy prices.
Purpose The purpose of the current study is to analyze the influence that is caused by ethnicity and volunteer self-employment in entrepreneurship on the initial financing and business performance of Chinese enterprises. The increasing trend of entrepreneurship has raised certain ethnic challenges in entrepreneurship owing to globalization and now there are several minority groups that are running their households in China. So, the current study aims to assess whether the minority-operated and majority-operated firms have different access to initial financing and different business performance. Design/methodology/approach The data are collected from 25 Chinese enterprises about the current variables, and the relationships are tested. This study has used the ordinary least of square (OLS) regression model to examine the findings. Findings The purposive sampling is used in the current study because the purpose of the present research is to understand and study the role of ethnicity and self-employment in initial financing and business performance of Chinese enterprises and so the data was collected from related enterprises. This study has used the ordinary least of square (OLS) regression model to examine the findings. Originality/value The current findings have significant implications in theory and practice. This study will be a great addition to the literature because the self-employment has never been examined before in such models to assess the role of forceful or volunteer self-employment in entrepreneurship, and so, it will open new doors of research for future researchers.
