Laser scanning is a new measurement technique through which can be recorded, fully automatic with high precision and speed. In documenting of existing buildings and facilities, knowing the geometry of the object is the most important. Old university buildings are icons from the past that exist in present time. In order to preserve this heritage for the future generation, recording and documenting of university buildings are required. With the development of information system and data collection technique, it is possible to create a 3D digital model. This 3D information plays an important role in recording and documenting old buildings. The purpose of this paper is to achieve the objective, namely, achieving 3D digital model of a university building located in the USAMV Bucharest campus. Examining the building, which has existed for over 80 years has a fairly high level of degradation, requiring investigation overall. Digital model has the role to graphically restore, as closely as possible the objective scanned, obtaining all the necessary information for this old building. Through this research, a proper database for storing and documenting the university buildings conservation data will be developed in order to attempt to register them in UNESCO patrimony.
The paper aims to evaluate the potential of using aerial images captured from UAV’s, when compared with satellite images, for the purpose of monitoring rapeseed cultures. For this, a comparison is presented; two modern methods of gathering and processing images with the purpose of estimating the rapeseed culture yields, in contrast with the classic method. For this purpose, we use professional equipment to gather images, GPS RTK to provide advanced precision, as well as software such as Precision Flight to plan the flight routes, Precision Mapper to construct the orthophoto, custom made Python programs and LeoWorks to process and classify the resulting images.
The article presents a way of remodeling old building facades, which have been subject to degradation, with the help of common software. There are two methods of reconstruction presented: the first method is using the Adobe Photoshop software and the second method is using the Agisoft PhotoScan software. A comparative study is presented, by showing the advantages and disadvantages of methods, as well as their similarities and differences. The building that is the subject of the study is one of the oldest buildings belonging to the university. It is noted that by combining modern technology (aerial scanning) and common software solutions, there can be found a fast and reliable response to the need for restoration and conservation of historical buildings.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
