The aim of the study is to assess the effect of the educational intervention regarding breast cancer among high school students. A quasi-experimental pre and posttest design were utilized to fulfill the aim of this study. This study was conducted in the classrooms of the selected female high private and governmental schools. Riyadh, Kingdome of Saudi Arabia. The school was selected by simple random sampling technique and sampling units were selected consecutively. The study was conducted on 400 high school female students in in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A questionnaire to assess student' knowledge and attitude regarding breast cancer was developed to elicit student's information which include Data were collected from November to December 2017. Students total knowledge level of breast cancer was increased after posttest. They had a remarkable improvement in understanding of the disease which was verified with statistical significance difference than in the pretest. The educational intervention was good enough to improve student's knowledge, understanding and attitude regarding breast cancer. Educational programs are required to be implemented that utilize social and cultural factors are crucial for social awareness including such critical topics in the high school curriculum.
Critical Care Nursing reflects a holistic approach in caring of patients, critical care nurses are registered nurses who are trained and skilled to practice critical care nursing for critically ill patients, she carries out independent interventions and collaborates patient care activities to address life-threatening situations that will meet patient's physical, psychological, cultural and spiritual needs. The aim of the study was to explore competence levels of intensive care unit nurses and related socio demographic characteristics. Setting: the study was conducted at all Intensive and Critical Care Units, King Abdulaziz Medical City and King Abdullah Specialized Children Hospital. Sample: Representative convenient sample of 233 intensive and critical care unit nurses were included in the study. Tools: Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competence Scale (ICCN-CS-1) was used for the purpose of the study, it is a self-assessment questionnaire consisting of two main basic competence; clinical competence and professional competence with a total of 140 items; each basic competence comprises four essential sub domains; knowledge, skills, attitude and value and experience base. Results of the study revealed that majority of the studied nurses has excellent total level of competency, with highest percent of the studied nurses who have good competency level related to knowledge base and there was a significant difference between total competency level of the studied nurses and their working unit and years of experience in the current Unit. Recommendation: Adding of more than one data collection method to avoid subjectivity of self-assessment scale results.
College students can make inappropriate food choices owing to a lack of nutritional knowledge and understanding of dietary requirements. Increasing physical inactivity among college students is also a serious public health problem. To assess dietary habits and physical exercise among nursing students in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 2018, this cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at a single college in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a convenience sample of 104 level-4—or second year—undergraduate nursing students. Data were collected using a three-part self-assessment questionnaire. More than one-third of the students were overweight; two-thirds consumed unhealthy snacks, and most failed to drink enough water and were physically inactive. The prevalence of overweight and obesity suggests the significance of frequent educational campaigns and seminars on healthy eating and physical activity. Also, further research is needed to assess college students’ knowledge and attitudes about healthy diet and the importance of regular physical exercise.
This study aims to investigate the deficiencies of undergraduate students' writing skill and the role of formative assessment in the improvement of their academic writing. Plus, this study aims to analyze the impact of written feedback by teachers to improve the writing skill. Sample of the study involves 200 undergraduate students (Grade-14) including 100 females and 100 males studying at public and private colleges in a district in the central Punjab (Pakistan). The data for this study were collected through a questionnaire. It explored the students' responses, and the impact of written feedback on the development of writing skill. Techniques, adopted in formative assessment, were also viewed. The main outcome of this study was that the different strategies had the positive impact on academic writing. Different technique such as assignment writing and proper feedback, teacher's guidance and classroom activities are helpful in developing writing.
