A multiband novel planer monopole antenna with added L & U shaped monopoles is introduced in this paper. It exhibits good 10dB bandwidth for return loss from 858 to 931 MHz, from 1.571 to 2.845 GHz , from 3.42 to 4.42GHz and from 5.26 to 6.32GHz covering GSM,GPS,DCS,PCS,UMTS,WLAN bands 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz and WiMAX bands 2.5/3.5/5.5 GHz . The antenna occupies an overall dimension of 92mm x 48 mm. Simulations results show good antenna performance in all frequency bands such as reasonable gain and omni-directional radiation pattern.
