Resumo: Estudo descritivo, documental, elaborado a partir da elucidação da assistência a dor por um grupo de enfermeiros em um hospital de ensino público. Consideraram para análise, um recorte a partir das respostas expressas e a analisaram frente a Lei do Exercício Profissional da Enfermagem e a Resolução 358/2009 que discorre sobre Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem (SAE), método este que fundamenta toda ação de cuidar em enfermagem. Foi possível verificar que a prática da Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem (SAE), torna-se um diferencial na assistência à dor. Ainda, os enfermeiros discorrem da necessidade em serem capacitados e sensibilizados para essa atuação, considerando que na prática profissional para a dor muitas vezes é vista como secundária frente as ações emergências de cuidado.Palavras-chave: Dor; Enfermagem; Escalas de dor. Activity in pain assistance in a teaching hospitalAbstract: A descriptive, documentary study elaborated from the elucidation of pain care by a group of nurses in a public teaching hospital. They considered for analysis a cut from the expressed answers and analyzed it before the Law of the Professional Exercise of Nursing and Resolution 358/2009 that deals with Nursing Care Systematization (SAE), a method that bases all action of care in nursing. It was possible to verify that the practice of the Systematization of Nursing Assistance (SAE), becomes a differential in the assistance to pain. Still, nurses discuss the need to be trained and sensitized to this action, considering that in professional practice for pain it is often seen as secondary to emergency care actions.Keywords: Pain; Nursing; Pain scales.
