Organo-tellurium compounds S 0140Chemoselective Reduction of β-Butyltellanyl α,β-Unsaturated Carbonyl Compounds to Allylic Alcohols. -The title carbonyl tellurium compounds (III), (VII) or (X) are stereoselectively produced by hydrotelluration of the alkynones (I), the alkynone derived from (V) or the enol tosylate (IX). Chemoselective reductions with NaBH4/CeCl3·7H2O, NaBH4/MeOH/EtOH or iBu2AlH give the corresponding allylic alcohols with retention of the (Z)-stereochemistry. The ester (XIII) can be reduced to the corresponding alcohol (XIV) without loss of (Z)-stereochemistry. -(DOS SANTOS*, A. A.; CASTELANI, P.; BASSORA, B. K.; FOGO, J. C. J.; COSTA, C.
