This study was designed for learning the patterns of utilization of the children's sections of public libraries and understanding the functions and social elements that library users find in or bring to these sections. The study was designed as a qualitative case study for examining three public libraries (Erzincan, Essen & Niğde). Data were collected using semi-structured interviews with 72 children and 43 adults in 3 weeks of observation period. Findings for each of three libraries are given under the headings of quality of spaces for children, social climate, and overall picture of activities for children as the "within-case". As to the "across-case" are reached the themes; preschool children, a place like a bookstore, a place like a playground, and reading as a sub-skill for academic success. Considering the functions of libraries in years, it is necessary to involve experts, writers, teachers, and parents in the process as well.

By construing the themes reached as result of the analyses of the data obtained, study finding are come up with and discussed in the witness of the resources. It is observed that particularly three themes came forward in the process of improving intercultural sensitivity: recognition, resemblance, and empathy. It is noted as result of the analyses conducted that student, when got a favorable acquaintance with a different culture, they recognized and got curious such culture, tried to resemble it with their own, and develop an empathy with it. In conclusion, it is possible to say that ability to improve intercultural sensitivity might be ensured by means of tales in Turkish language courses. Taken together, it can be suggested to include tales which belong different cultures that have migrated to Turkey in the textbooks. The more frequent inclusion of such text in textbooks may support development of student’s intercultural sensitivity.
