The banking sector plays an important role in promoting individual and national welfare with many transactions it performs. This study is aimed to analyze the financial performance of 11 Development and Investment Banks operating in Turkish banking sector between 2015-2021 with SV-TOPSIS method, one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques. First of all, in relation to 11selected criteria, criteria weights were determined by SV (Statistical Variance) method and then analyzed by TOPSIS method. According to the results obtained from the proposed model, the banks included in the study showed performance fluctuations during the study period, but the best-performing banks were found to be İller Bankası (Bank of Provinces) and Diler Investment Bank, respectively.
The systematic measurement and evaluation of the financial performance of banks is of vital importance for banks, which are one of the most dynamic parts of the financial system. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the financial performance of 9 deposit banks operating in the BIST for the period of 2016-2020 with a new hybrid MCDM model. AHP, which is a subjective approach, and SD, which is an objective approach, are integrated with the joint weighting procedure in the weighting of the evaluation criteria examined within the scope of the analysis. According to the weight scores obtained according to the integrated weighting procedure, it has been determined that the most important criterion affecting the bank performance for the period included in the analysis varies according to years. In the second stage of the analysis, the financial performance scores of the banks were determined by using the PIV method. According to the results obtained from the aforementioned method, it was concluded that the performance rankings of the banks also varied over the years in the period included in the study. As a result, it can be stated that there are significant instabilities in the financial performance of banks during the period covering the 2016-2020 time period.
Measuring and evaluating the financial performance of companies and sectors is a very important concept in terms of sustainability and taking early measures against risks. In this study, it is aimed to measure the financial performance of the Turkish health sector between the years 2017-2021. In the realization of this performance measurement, SV (Statistical Variance) – EDAS (Evaluation based on Distance from Average Solution) methods, one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, were preferred. According to the criteria weights determined by the SV method, the most important criterion was the return on equity criterion, and it was observed that the performance of the health sector was at its best in 2020, while there was a decline in performance in 2021 during the study period. It can be stated that there is such a regression due to the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic experienced in this period on the health sector.
