Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a major crop plant and a model system for fruit development. Solanum is one of the largest angiosperm genera(1) and includes annual and perennial plants from diverse habitats. Here we present a high-quality genome sequence of domesticated tomato, a draft sequence of its closest wild relative, Solanum pimpinellifolium(2), and compare them to each other and to the potato genome (Solanum tuberosum). The two tomato genomes show only 0.6% nucleotide divergence and signs of recent admixture, but show more than 8% divergence from potato, with nine large and several smaller inversions. In contrast to Arabidopsis, but similar to soybean, tomato and potato small RNAs map predominantly to gene-rich chromosomal regions, including gene promoters. The Solanum lineage has experienced two consecutive genome triplications: one that is ancient and shared with rosids, and a more recent one. These triplications set the stage for the neofunctionalization of genes controlling fruit characteristics, such as colour and fleshiness
PurposeThe purpose of this study was to compare asymmetric mandibular prognathism individuals with symmetric mandibular prognathism individuals using a new alternate spherical coordinate system.Materials and MethodsThis study consisted of 47 computed tomographic images of patients with mandibular prognathism. The patients were classified into symmetric and asymmetric groups. Mandibular and ramal lines were analyzed using an alternate spherical coordinate system. The length as well as midsagittal and coronal inclination angle of the lines was obtained. The bilateral differences of the spherical coordinates of the facial lines were statistically analyzed in the groups.ResultsThere were significant differences between the groups in bilateral difference of the length and midsagittal inclination angle of the lines (p<0.05). The bilateral difference of the length and midsagittal inclination angle of the lines has significant correlation with chin deviation (p<0.05).ConclusionThe new alternate spherical coordinate system was able to effectively evaluate facial lines. The bilateral difference of lengths and midsagittal inclination of the facial lines might contribute to the facial asymmetry in mandibular prognathism individuals.
The typical features of a LMBD were ovoid, round or mutilobated radiolucent shape, well-defined sclerotic border, and position in the posterior area of the mandible between the mandibular canal and inferior mandibular cortex. The buccolingual depth of LMBD was deeper with increasing age.
Metrology tools are increasingly challenged by the continuing decrease in the device dimensions, combined with complex disruptive materials and architectures. These demands are not being met appropriately by existing/forthcoming metrology techniques individually. Hybrid Metrology (HM) -the practice to combine measurements from multiple toolset types in order to enable or improve the measurement of one or more critical parameters -is being incorporated by the industry to resolve these challenges. Continuing our previous work we now take the HM from the lab into the fab. This paper presents the first-in-industry implementation of HM within a High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) environment. Advanced 3D applications are the first to use HM: 20nm Contact etch and 14nm FinFET poly etch. The concept and main components of this Phase-1 Host-based implementation are discussed. We show examples of communication protocols/standards that have been specially constructed for HM for sharing data between the metrology tools and fab host in GLOBALFOUNDRIES, as well as the HM recipe setup and HVM results. Finally we discuss our vision and phased progression/roadmap for Phase-2 HM implementation to fully reap the benefits of hybridization.
PurposeThis study was performed to investigate the interobserver agreement on the detection of carotid artery calcifications on panoramic radiographs.Materials and MethodsThis study consisted of panoramic radiographs acquired from 634 male patients of the age of 50 years or older. Having excluded carotids of no diagnostic quality, 1008 carotids from the panoramic radiographs of the patients were interpreted by two oral and maxillofacial radiologists independently for the presence of carotid artery calcifications. Statistical analysis was used to calculate the interobserver agreement.ResultsInterobserver agreement was obtained for 932 carotids (92.4%). Inconsistent interpretation of 76 carotids (7.5%) between the two observers was found. Cohen's kappa value was 0.688 (p<0.001).ConclusionThe probability of a match between the two observers was substantially high.
