RÉSUMÉ. Plusieurs cas d'infestation et d'hyperinfestation de jeunes mouettes tridactyles (Rissa tridactyla) par des tiques (Ixodes (C.) uriae et Ornithodoros (A.) SUMMARY. Several cases of infestation and hyperinfestation of young kittiwakes (Rissa tri dactyla) by ticks Ixodes (C.) uriae and Ornithodoros (A.) maritimus were studied in Brittany. Parasitological, histological and virological results showed that tick parasitism alone may repre sent a major negative factor for the chick's health able to explain pathological disorders previously reported in other seabird colonies. Arbovirus infections transmitted by the same ticks appeared to be a relatively minor factor. Effects of ectoparasitism by ticks (and other blood-sucking arthro pods) must be taken in account during dynamics population studies of seabirds.
Summary : FIXING ON MAN OF Ixodes (Trichotoixodes) frontalis (PANZER, 1795) COLLECTED WITH THE FLAGGING METHODAs he was beginning to sort a batch of Ixodid ticks, collected with the flagging technique, the operator noticed that a female tick identified as Ixodes frontalis had fixed itself rapidly on the top of one of his finger. That species is usually considered as « strictspecific to birds ». The low frequency of such a fixing on human beings, as far as we know, is of limited value from an epidemiological point of view.
KEY WORDS :Ixodes frontalis, man.
