We have observed the generation of high-energy electrons by longitudinal electrostatic waves in a beam-plasma system. We find a direct correlation between the measured field and particle spectra.
A theoretical study of the electrostatic field fluctuations of a bounded beam plasma system in the regime below threshold for growing oscillations is presented. The spectrum exhibits a triplet structure in the neighborhood of the beam line. The structure is predicted on the basis of the electrostatic wave emission model and the behavior of the dispersion relation for the bonded system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
