If conservative management does reduce the proportion of children with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis that require surgery, it can be said to provide a real and meaningful advantage to both the patients and the community. It is contended that conservative methods of treatment should never be ruled out from scoliosis management, because they can and do offer a viable alternative to those patients who cannot or will not opt for surgical treatment.
Arthroscopic repair of anterior-inferior instability using the 5:30-o'clock portal is dependent on anchor type and can show good to excellent results. Because of several coinjuries in anterior-inferior instability, an arthroscopic approach may be required to identify and treat such lesions.
Anaphylactic reactions were rare and their incidence did not differ substantially among the drug groups studied. By determining the occurrence of reactions following defined exposures, these results provide a context for the interpretation of spontaneous reports of allergic reactions.
