Abstract. Learning achievement is an achievement of a student in the academic field for the results of his hard work during the learning process. There are several factors that affect learning achievement, including interest and motivation to learn. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of learning interest and learning motivation on academic achievement. This research was conducted with an analytic observational design using a cross-sectional study. The subjects for this research were calculated by using estimating proportion formula. There were 69 subjects who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were selected by simple random sampling technique. Data was taken by distributing study interest questionnaires to measure interest in learning and academic motivation scale questionnaire to measure learning motivation while learning achievement data was obtained from the latest GPA scores. Data was analyzed by using multiple regression, t test, f test, determination test, and partial influence test to assess the effect of interest and learning motivation on learning achievement of freshman students of the Faculty of Medicine, Bandung Islamic University batch 2021. The results shows that there is a significant influence between learning interest and learning motivation on learning achievement. In the determination test, it is found that interest in learning has an effect 7.9% and learning motivation has an effect of 37% to learning achievement. With a total effect on determination test 44.9% to learning achievement and 51.9% is a factor that is not analyzed in this study. Abstrak. Prestasi belajar merupakan sebuah capaian seorang siswa dalam bidang akademik atas hasil kerja kerasnya selama proses pembelajaran. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi prestasi belajar antara lain adalah minat dan motivasi belajar. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis pengaruh minat dan motivasi belajar terhadap prestasi belajar. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan desain observasional analitik dengan menggunakan studi cross-sectional. Subyek penelitian dihitung menggunakan rumus estimasi proporsi sebuah populasi. Subyek penelitian berjumlah 69 orang yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan ekslusi serta dipilih dengan tehnik simple random sampling. Data diambil dengan menyebarkan kuesioner study interest questionnaire untuk mengukur minat belajar dan kuisioner academic motivation scale untuk mengukur motivasi belajar sedangkan data prestasi belajar diperoleh dari nilai IPK terakhir. Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi berganda, uji t, uji f, uji determinasi dan uji pengaruh parsial untuk menilai pengaruh minat dan motivasi belajar terhadap prestasi belajar mahasiswa tingkat I Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Islam Bandung angkatan 2021. Pada uji pengaruh parsial ditemukan minat belajar memberikan pengaruh sebesar 7,9 % dan motivasi belajar memberikan pengaruh 37 % terhadap prestasi belajar. Dengan total pengaruh pada uji determinasi kedua variabel terhadap prestasi belajar sebesar 44,9% dan 51,9% merupakah faktor yang tidak dianalisis pada penelitian ini.
Background: Good knowledge and behaviours are crucial to prevent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) transmission in boarding school communities during the pandemic.Objective: To evaluate the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, and behaviours to prevent COVID-19 among students in an Islamic boarding school. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in March 2021 at the Manarul Huda Islamic Boarding School on 39 students who met the inclusion criteria. Sampling was employed using the total sampling technique. Variables analysed were students’ age, education level, knowledge, and behaviour on COVID-19 prevention as measured using a closed questionnaire. Data were then analysed univariately using frequency distribution and bivariate using the Chi-Square (χ2) and Fisher’s Exact test. Results were considered significant if the p-value was < 0.05.Results: No significant relationships were found between age and knowledge of COVID-19 (p = 0.97); education level and knowledge of COVID-19 (p = 0.619); age and behaviours to prevent COVID-19 transmission (p = 0.136); and education level and behaviours to prevent COVID-19 transmission (p = 0.399) among of the Islamic boarding school students. In contrast, knowledge was significantly (p = 0.035) linked with behaviours to prevent COVID-19 transmission among students.Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge and behaviours in preventing COVID-19 among students. However, no relationship was found between demographic characteristics of age and educational level and knowledge and behaviours to prevent COVID-19 in our study participants.
According to the Central Statistics Agency, the percentage of smokers among Indonesians aged 15 years is relatively high. It was 32.20%, 29.03%, and 28.69%, in 2018, 2019, and 2020 respectively. Cigarettes contain tar that changes into a solid and builds up colored plaque when entering the mouth. Perpetual cigarette smoke causes brown pigmentation on the mucosa, known as smoker's melanosis. Smoker's melanosis is abundant in gums and lips. This study's objective was to analyze the correlations between a smoking habit with teeth, gums, and lips discoloration in an active smoker. This study was an observational analysis with a survey approach from January to May 2021 in Bandung. The sample was 100 males, consisting of 38 active smokers and 62 non-smokers as a comparison group. Data were analyzed by Pearson and Spearman test. This study shows a significant correlation between smoking habit and teeth discoloration (p=0.01), also shows a statistically significant correlation between a smoking habit and gum discoloration (p=0.00), and there is a significant correlation (p=0.00) between a smoking habit and lips discoloration. In conclusion, there is a correlation between a smoking habit and teeth, gums, and lips discoloration.
Abstract. For adolescents, smoking is a symbolic thing because it can make them look stronger and more mature. Smoking is considered by adolescents to provide peace, reduce feelings of anxiety, and make it easier to concentrate. Smoking has both positive and negative impacts on adolescents. This study aims to determine smoking behavior among high school students at SMAN 2 Sungai Limau in 2022. This research was conducted in August 2022 with an analytic observational design using a cross-sectional study. The subjects of this study were 115 high school students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were selected by the consecutive sampling technique. Primary data was collected by completing a validated smoking behavior questionnaire. The results showed that most of the respondents had a light smoking behavior of as much as 82.6%. Light smoking behavior is because in the area of West Sumatra, on average, every child from the age of four has studied religion and recited the Quran in a surau or mosque. Because they are equipped with religious knowledge from an early age, this is enough to equip students with the knowledge that smoking is prohibited and causes more harm. Abstrak. Bagi remaja, merokok adalah hal yang simbolis karena bisa menjadikan dirinya seseorang yang terlihat lebih kuat, matang, dan dewasa. Merokok dianggap oleh remaja memberikan ketenangan, mengurangi perasaan gelisah, dan berkonsentrasi jadi lebih mudah. Merokok memiliki dampak positif dan negatif pada remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku merokok pada siswa SMA di SMAN 2 Sungai Limau pada tahun 2022. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Agustus 2022 dengan desain analytic observational menggunakan studi cross-sectional. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 115 siswa SMA yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi serta dipilih dengan teknik consecutive sampling. Pengumpulan data diambil melalui data primer dengan pengisian kuesioner perilaku merokok yang telah tervalidasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki perilaku merokok ringan sebanyak 82,6%. Perilaku merokok ringan dikarenakan di daerah Sumatera Barat rata-rata setiap anak dari umur empat tahun sudah belajar ilmu agama dan mengaji di surau atau masjid. Dikarenakan dibekali ilmnu agama sejak dini, hal tersebut cukup untuk membekali pengetahuan siswa bahwa rokok hukumnya makruh serta lebih banyak mudaratnya.
Abstract. Anxiety is a condition that everyone experiences when they feel something dangerous about themselves. Long-term anxiety can lead to poor sleep quality. Inadequate or poor-quality sleep can cause disturbances in cognitive and psychological functioning as well as a decrease in physical health. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of anxiety on sleep quality in FK Unisba students who were preparing their thesis during the COVID-19 pandemic for the 2021/2022 academic year. This study used an analytic observational research method with a cross-sectional design. The research subjects totaled 134 students who were selected by a simple random sampling technique and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection was taken using the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale questionnaire to assess anxiety levels and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index to assess sleep quality. Data were analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. The results showed that the majority of anxiety levels were in the mild category, with as many as 49 respondents (36.57%), with 44 people (32.84%) experiencing poor sleep quality. The results of the value analysis give a p of 0.003 which indicates that the level of anxiety experienced by students affects the quality of sleep. Poor sleep quality causes students who are preparing their thesis to experience various obstacles due to bold preparation which can trigger anxiety so that students do not get peace to sleep. Kecemasan jangka panjang dapat menyebabkan kualitas tidur yang buruk. Kualitas tidur yang tidak memadai atau buruk dapat menyebabkan gangguan pada fungsi kognitif dan psikologis serta penurunan kesehatan fisik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecemasan terhadap kualitas tidur pada mahasiswa FK Unisba yang sedang menyusun skripsi di masa pandemi COVID-19 tahun akademik 2021/2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain cross sectional. Subyek penelitian berjumlah 134 mahasiswa yang dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Pengumpulan data diambil dengan menggunakan kuesioner Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale untuk menilai tingkat kecemasan dan Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index untuk menilai kualitas tidur. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mayoritas tingkat kecemasan pada kategori ringan sebanyak 49 responden (36,57%), dengan 44 orang (32,84%) mengalami kualitas tidur yang buruk. Hasil analisis memberikan nilai p sebesar 0,003 yang menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kecemasan yang dialami mahasiswa berpengaruh pada kualitas tidur. Kualitas tidur buruk diakibatkan mahasiswa yang sedang menyusun skripsi mengalami berbagai kendala akibat penyusunan secara daring yang dapat memicu kecemasan, sehingga mahasiswa tidak mendapatkan ketenangan untuk tertidur.
