Th e purpose of this study was to investigate attitudes of pre-service teachers toward the teaching profession with respect to their gender, grade level, whether participants regularly participate in physical activities, and whether pre-service students have a teacher-parent in their family. Research was conducted on 469 pre-service physical education teachers (Mage=21.35, SDage= 2.49), 188 female (Mage=20.89, SDage= 2.30) and 281 male (Mage=21.66, SDage= 2.57) students from fi ve diff erent universities in Turkey. In this study the "Attitude Scale for the Profession of Physical Education Teaching" was used. It has two factors: "concern for profession" (CP) and "aff ection for profession" (AP). Independent sample t-test results indicated that there were no signifi cant diff erences with respect to gender or having a teacher-parent in both factors and total attitude points (p> 0.05). Pre-service physical education teachers who participate in physical activity had signifi cantly higher points in AP and the total scale in comparison to those who do not participate in physical activity (p< 0.05). ANOVA results indicated that based on grade level there were signifi cant diff erences in CP and total attitude (p< 0.05). Students' concern about employment may be associated with diff erences in attitude scores between grade levels. Th e positive eff ect of physical activity participation and their professional teaching education on stress resilience might also be an important factor for increasing positive attitudes toward the teaching profession.
El Informe de estado físico relacionado con la salud (HRFRC) ha sido implementado por primera vez por profesores de educación física y deportes en el año académico 2016-2017 bajo la dirección del Ministerio de Educación Nacional en Turquía. El propósito de este estudio fue obtener los puntos de vista de los profesores de educación física y deportes en la HRFRC implementada por primera vez y el contenido de la prueba de aptitud física. Los participantes estuvieron compuestos por 10 maestros de educación física y deportes con antigüedad de entre 2 y 30 años y trabajando activamente en las escuelas intermedias y secundarias. Se eligieron entrevistas individuales en profundidad semiestructuradas y notas de campo como herramientas de recopilación de datos. Los datos recopilados se analizaron mediante el método de análisis de contenido. Los temas identificados son (1) Beneficios de la práctica, (2) Razones para no lograr el objetivo de la práctica, (3) Desafíos experimentados con la práctica y (4) Recomendaciones para la práctica. Los docentes enfatizaron que mejorar la calidad de la capacitación HRFRC brindada por el gobierno, usando materiales estándar para mediciones, cambiando el tiempo de implementación, aumentando la integración de partes interesadas como nutricionista, expertos en salud y familias en la implementación y proporcionando una atmósfera más confidencial en la implementación para aumentar la tasa de participación y la calidad de la HRFRC.
Dual-tasks are often used with postural control. These tasks, which generally target motor skills and cognitive performance, also help to determine the individual’s postural control. The purpose of this study is to determine the changes in performance during the motor task, which includes the cognitive cues of the hearing-impaired athletes. A total of 31 hearing-impaired athletes (male=19, female=12) and 34 hearing-impaired sedentary people (male=18, female=16) were included voluntarily in the study. The FitLight Trainer™ system was used to determine participants’ reaction time levels. The performance time of hearing-impaired male athletes was significantly lower than the hearing-impaired sedentary men in each of the three tests (Random Test: t = 4, 089, p <0.05; Cue Test: t = 3,551, p <0.05; Mixed Cue Test: t = 2, 393, p<0.05). The performance time of hearing-impaired female athletes was statistically significantly lower than that of sedentary hearing-impaired females for all protocols (Random Test: t=2,586, p<0,05; Cue Test: t=2,568, p<0.05; Mixed Cue Test: t=2,899, p<0.05). This study demonstrates that 1) hearing-impaired athletes perform postural control adjustments automatically during the motor task, and they require minimal less cognitive effort than they need to be minimally considered; 2) regular physical activities and training showed a positive development on other systems, especially the proprioceptive system, which controls balance. In future studies, dual-task reaction time values and postural control strategy comparisons should be measured among hearing-impaired athletes and athletes who do not have a hearing disability.
