This paper is an extension of a previously published work on thermal modelling of the human eye exposed to radiation by various lasers. The 2D model is now extended to 3D in order to give a more realistic representation of the human eye model when irradiated by laser. The model is based on space-time dependent Pennes' bio-heat transfer equation solved by the finite elements method featuring Galerking-Bubnov procedure. The results for the temperature field inside the eye could prove to be useful in minimising the possible damage to intraocular tissues during the ophthalmological procedures and also later in analysis of laser-tissue interaction mechanisms. Also, analysis of various parameters on the calculated temperature distribution is carried out.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
