This study aims to compare the self-leadership levels of academics in the field of Sports Sciences with their political skills level. The research samples include the academics working in the field of Sports Sciences in public and private universities in Turkey. There are 251 academics participating in this study. The data has been collected and analyzed using the survey technique. Regarding the research topic, the self-leadership scale has been used as a data collection tool to measure validity and reliability tests of Tabak, Sığrı and Türköz (2013) adapted to Turkish. In orderto determine the political skills of academics in the field of Sport Sciences, Ferris et al. (2005) tried to develop it and Özdemir and Gören (2015) used Political Skills Inventory which was adapted to Turkish in educational organizations that also made the validity and reliability studies of the Turkish form Exploratory factor analysis was used on self- leadership and political skill scales, the self-leadership scale is divided into 8 sub-dimensions and the political skill scale into 4 sub- dimensions In correlation analysis, when there are no parametric cases, non-parametric Spearmann rank correlation coefficient was used. It was concluded that there was a 43% moderate relationship between the political skills and self-leadership scales. This research was presented as a paper at the 18th International Sports Sciences Congress.
