Medicine is a dynamic profession that has progressed as technology has evolved. The medical community has embraced the technology and utilization has strengthened the profession. Computers have become an integral part of medicine. With the integration of medicine and computers, research surrounding this area has become more prolific. Many papers and presentations regarding the topic of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in the medical community are submitted each year to the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society’s Annual Meeting and subsequently published in the proceedings. This paper identifies the research trends of HCI in the medical community as published in the HFES proceedings and The British HCI Group since 1999.
