The Code of Federal Regulations provides for the use of sulfamethazine (SM) boluses in cattle, a tolerance of 0.1 ppm for SM in meat, and a 10-day withdrawal. Bob veal, fancy veal, and replacement calves were dosed with SM as provided in the regulations and the rate of depletion of SM and, where practicable, N4-acetylsulfamethazine and desaminosulfamethazine were measured in liver, kidney, and diaphragm muscle by gas chromatography. SM concentrations reached lower maximum levels and depleted faster in the tissues of replacement calves than in bob veal and fancy veal calves. Average SM levels on d 5 of withdrawal in liver, kidney, and diaphragm were about 1 ppm in fancy veal, above 2 ppm in bob veal, and below 0.1 ppm in replacement veal. Two of the d 14 and two of the d 10 withdrawal fancy veal livers contained more than 0.10 ppm of SM. A 10-d withdrawal period may not be long enough for bob and fancy veal calves that have been dosed according to the drug label.
There is increasing awareness among therapists of the importance of nonverbal communication in the counseling process. Within the past decade nonverbal communication has gained in prominence as an object of study. The research in nonverbal communication in the past has been disjointed and tended to study the subject of nonverbal behavior, not its effect on people (Myers and Myers, 1972). Many nonverbal behaviors have been demonstrated to have measurable impact on the therapeutic process. These include eye contact, trunk lean, seating distance, body orientation, movement, facial expression, gestures, and various selected features of spatial environment ().The past five years show an increasing interest in applying the research findings of social psychology and anthropology to certain therapeutic intervention processes-specifically, in a group setting. Gounad et al. (1976) state that a person's problems and personality can be expressed in various ways by the body. Thus, they feel that body language and nonverbal exer-
Incest has become more prominent in public awareness over the past 15 years. The major focus of this interest has been on the incest survivor. The incest offender has received less attention. A hypnotic approach to treating incest offenders is outlined that involves a seven-stage approach. A case example is presented and future research directions suggested.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
